From pioneering champion to mentor, Amanda Lino is shaping the future of South African MMA while inspiring others to break boundaries.

Coaching young athletes has also revealed something unexpected: It has strengthened her desire to become a mother. “My partner and I want to have kids in about two years’ time,” she says with a warm smile.

For an athlete who has spent a lifetime breaking barriers, it may prove to be her most important chapter yet.

Stephanie Naidoo is a quantity surveyor who has defied expectations and stereotypes to follow the path she felt passionate about.

“I don't think women need to become ‘one of the boys’ to succeed. You can be knowledgeable, decisive and respected while still being unapologetically feminine.” She continues, “Ultimately, people don’t remember whether you were the woman on the team; they remember whether you were good at your job.”

Cathleen Breedt, from Vermeulen Attorneys, found her way to law from watching "Judging Amy" as a child.

"At that stage, I felt my calling was to join the judiciary in the children’s courts; today I specialise mostly in deceased estate and trust litigation. These areas also enable me to give a voice to clients who are oppressed by others in power, which is massively fulfilling."
