Kauve! 70th anniversary of the 1956 Women's March to the Union Buildings.

President Cyril Ramaphosa leads the National Women's Day commemoration event marking the historic 1956 march of 20,000 women against apartheid pass laws. The official national event takes place on Sunday, 9 August 2026, from 09h00 to 12h00, highlighting women's empowerment and economic inclusion.

Did you know that the original colours of the MyANC flag where black, green and red?

TD Mweli Skota as General Secretary of the South African Native National Congress from 1925 - 1929 influenced two of its colours, viz black and green, the third, being red, to be replaced with gold by his Pimville editor homeboy Levi Mvabaza.

He introduced the proposal of shortening the name of the organisation to its present “AfricanNational Congress” and adopted Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika as the Congress’ anthem. MyANC

However, significantly, all three of Skota's colours - black, green and red were embraced by the national flag of the democratic Republic of SA!
