How do you even begin to feel sympathy for someone so deeply invested in their own lies? Imagine the emotional damage — the heartbreak she caused to the people who genuinely cared for her and believed her story.

With so many women out there struggling to have children, this is just not okay. Is this really what the world’s come to? We played with dolls and pretended as kids… but she took it quite literally.

Kira Cousins, a woman from Scotland, faked an entire pregnancy. From bump photos to ultrasound scans — and even claimed to have given birth to a baby girl named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce. Except there was no baby. It was all a lie, complete with a lifelike doll she passed off as her child.

When her mother discovered the truth, everything unravelled — leaving behind confusion, shock, and a trail of emotional wreckage.

The Perfect Neighbour is not one of those shows you just watch and move on from — it actually gets under your skin. 😭

For context, the case centres around the killing of Ajike “AJ” Owens, a 35-year-old mother of four who was shot by her neighbour, Susan Lorincz, in Ocala, Florida. It started with a long-running dispute — noise complaints, kids playing outside, tension that had been brewing for months.

One night, AJ went to Lorincz’s door to confront her after she reportedly yelled at the children and threw an object at one of them. Moments later, Lorincz shot her through the closed door.

In her note to the family, Lorincz said, “I’m sorry for your loss. I thought she was going to kill me.” But AJ never even made it inside.

Lorincz was later found guilty of manslaughter, but no sentence can bring back a mother who died protecting her kids. And no verdict can erase what those children witnessed or the trauma they now carry.

AJ Owens was a mother who died defending her children. And those kids — her babies — will forever be missing a piece of themselves that was taken far too soon.
