Will Smith & Chris Rock
I have watched and listened to all the comments of my friends, family and broader community, they had different views but the dominant view amongst most of the men were the same “ don’t disrespect my wife because I will also hit you “
In life you should always be hundred percent in control of your reactions always, your emotions shouldn’t dictate how you react, be sure that you know the pros and cons of any reaction. I would never not in a million years have attacked Chris even if he insulted my partner at that event, I would only have attacked him if he was planning physical harm, let me tell you why ? I have learned, many years ago I would have done worse than Will but I have learned and grown. Let me tell you about Gizo.
Gizo owned taxis and became wildly successful, he was in the process of buying one of the biggest bus companies in Gauteng, he went with his wife to the petrol garage and he went inside the shop and found a guy arguing with his wife upon his return, he just heard the guy saying, go to hell, he immediately grab the guy by the throat and punched him in the face, the guy died from a seizure after being punched.
Gizo fought that case for years, it bankrupted him in legal fees, he was sentenced to 17 years. I found him in jail, his wife moved on and married another guy ( yes same wife ).
Gizo told us daily that he regrets his action and he wouldn’t have attacked that guy if he has to relive the situation. He became sick in jail and died because of a lack of proper medical care in jail. I remember how his mom struggled to come and identify his body because she was old and frail. We had to assist with funeral cost.
Will was lucky, He could have knocked out Chris stone cold or dead, this is no exaggeration, there are many stories of people dying after being punched.
Gents it’s just not worth it, don’t risk your life, freedom and reputation for something that can be sorted out using other avenues.
This was Will Smith biggest night of his life, this was his moment and he made anger ruin it, Venus and Serena was present to witness how the role of their father Richard was soiled by anger.
Actors cherish and worked their whole lives to achieve Oscars, he now run the risks of losing even that, tomorrow Jada might leave him and say that he has anger issues and all of us will have to agree with her because the whole world saw it. He is a role model and kids watch him and his moves, that is a difficult cross to bear but it is what it is.
This thing where we always think violence is the only way to sort out things is the reason why we lost Tupac & Biggie, Chris Rock can retaliate and we will have same situation on our hands.
Prison is hell, don’t risk it to satisfy your ego, it’s not easy to walk away from a fight but it’s the only smart thing to do, Will will be slapped around in jail, being macho has levels and he is entry level.
I hope this post helps even if it is one person to walk away from a fight, it’s just not worth it boss, there are many ways to prove your love and getting involved in a fight is one the dumbest of those many ways.
