MaWhoo and Lwah Ndlunkulu have released a new joint Maskandi album titled “Isithembu.” The project brings the two artists together for a full-length release centered on the Maskandi sound, following their previous appearances on Maskandi-related tracks.

“Isithembu” contains 15 tracks and includes collaborations with several artists associated with the Maskandi scene. The featured artists on the album include Feza, Izingane Zoma, Mthandeni SK, Siya Ntuli and Litshepe Lr. Their involvement adds multiple voices to the project and connects the album with different performers from the genre.

MaWhoo is widely known for her work as an Amapiano vocalist, having built her music career through collaborations and releases within the South African Amapiano space. Lwah Ndlunkulu, meanwhile, is recognised for her work in Afro-Pop, with her music career also including collaborations that have crossed into other South African genres.

Although the two artists are associated with different musical backgrounds, both have previously appeared on Maskandi tracks. Their new joint project marks a move from individual appearances on the genre to a complete album dedicated to Maskandi.

SAPS MEMBERS ARRESTED ONE OF ITS OWN FOR CORRUPTION AND EXTORTION

A 47-year-old Police Warrant Officer attached to the Maseru Port of Entry (POE) who has been arrested following allegations of corruption and extortion is expected to appear before the Ladybrand Magistrates court this morning.

Free State Provincial Police'spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo said the suspect was taken into custody on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at approximately 15:30, after the ex*****on of a warrant for his arrest.

It is alleged that while on official duty at the border post, the Warrant Officer spotted an unknown male walking from the South African side towards Lesotho. The member stopped the traveler and searched his bag, discovering cash amounting to R71,000.00 inside.

The officer allegedly threatened to arrest the traveler for money laundering unless he was paid a bribe of R10,000.00. The traveler subsequently contacted his sister, the owner of the cash, and handed the phone to the police officer. To ensure her brother’s safe passage into Lesotho, the sister advised him to hand over the demanded R10,000.00.

After receiving the money, the member allowed the victim to cross the border into Lesotho with the remaining funds.

The victim formally reported the matter, and the case was immediately handed over to the Free State Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit for a comprehensive investigation.

Free State Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia decreed that the police in the Province shall maintain zero-tolerance approach toward corruption within its ranks, reaffirming that criminal behavior by law enforcement personnel will be dealt with decisively without fear or favor.

DUO NABBED IN THE ACT OF AN ILLEGAL MINING OPERATION AND EQUIPMENT SEIZED BY THABONG POLICE

Two males aged 37 and 39 have been arrested after they were found in possession of possible gold bearing material (GBM) weighing 42,5Kg at a dwelling in Thabong.

On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, members attached to the Thabong Social Crime Prevention received a tip-off from a community member about suspected illegal mining operations being conducted at a certain residence in Thokoza, Thabong. Information was operationalised and led members to an identified shack.

On arrival on the scene police found two african males in the process of conducting the illegal operation inside the premises.

The two males were subsequently arrested for possession of suspected Gold Bearing Material. Police seized the possible GBM and equipment presumably used during the alleged illegal mining operation and booked it in as evidence.

The two suspects are expected to appear before the Welkom Magistrate's Court on Friday, 28 August 2026.

NPA READY TO PROCEED WITH ALLEGED UK FUGITIVE CASE, DEFENCE REQUESTS MORE TIME

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng is ready to proceed with both matters against alleged United Kingdom fugitive, Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma (46), following the finalisation of the outstanding documentation and reports.

Tshuma appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court in two separate matters. He appeared in extradition proceedings following a request by the United Kingdom authorities and in a separate matter in which he faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Gauteng Division, Johannesburg said both matters were postponed to 8 and 10 September 2026, respectively, to allow the defence further time to consult with Tshuma.

The State has received all the required documentation from the United Kingdom authorities in support of the extradition proceedings. The ballistic report relating to the firearm and ammunition has also been finalised. The State has furnished the defence with all relevant documentation.

Tshuma was arrested in Kensington, Johannesburg, on 10 July 2026, after the South African Police Service (SAPS), through INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Pretoria, received a request from the United Kingdom authorities to trace and apprehend him following the issuing of a warrant of arrest by the Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

According to the extradition request, Tshuma is wanted in the United Kingdom on three counts of murder. It is alleged that, in early July 2026, in Bedford, Bedfordshire, he murdered his wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, and their two children, Natalie Tshuma and Nala Tshuma.

Tshuma initially entered South Africa legally through OR Tambo International Airport on 05 July 2026. His immigration status has subsequently changed as a result of his fugitive status. In terms of the Immigration Act, he is regarded as both a prohibited and undesirable person and is therefore considered to be in the Republic illegally.

The NPA will continue to prosecute the matters in accordance with the law and ensure that the proceedings are dealt with without unnecessary delays.

BODIES OF TWO MISSING HUNTERS RECOVERED ON SEPHOKONG MOUNTAIN

The bodies of two men, Sello Khala and Fana Nale, who were reported missing from Lusaka Village in Qwaqwa, have been recovered from top of Sephokong mountain following an extensive search and rescue operation.

According to Thabo Mofutsanyana Police'spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring the two victims went missing on Sunday, 9 August 2026, after embarking on a hunting trip at Hatsoanyana Farm alongside friends. While traversing Sephokong mountain, the group became separated due to dense misty weather conditions. One friend managed to navigate his way back home safely, but Khala and Nale failed to return.

Following reports filed by the distressed families, a multi-disciplinary search party was immediately launched. On Friday, 14 August 2026, at approximately 12:30, search teams located the body of 38-year-old Jerry Kgala (Sello Khala) deceased on the mountain.

Undeterred by the difficult terrain, the Search and Rescue team continued their relentless operations. On Monday, 24 August 2026, team members successfully located the body of the second victim, 22-year-old Lefa Nale (Fana Nale).
Both families have formally identified the deceased. Postmortem examinations will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death for both men.

Police appeal to anyone who may have additional information regarding this incident to contact Phuthaditjhaba Detective Service Warrant Officer Mathibela on 082 554 3461, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or submit an anonymous tip-off via the MySAPS App.

POLICE CONFISCATES DRUGS AND APPREHENDS ONE MALE SUSPECT

A 38-year-old male was apprehended for allegedly in possession of drugs at Section F in Botshabelo on Monday, 24 August 2026.

On Monday 24 August 2026 at about 15:00 Selosesha POP acted on an intelligence tip off about alleged possession of drugs. Members went to a given address around Section F in Botshabelo.

Upon searching police allegedly found 36 small packets of Cat and six small packets of crystal m**h hidden inside an old paraffin heater.

A 38-year-old male was apprehended for alledly being in possession of drugs with a street value of R 4 000, 00.

Apprehended suspect is expected to appear before Botshabelo Magistrates' Court soon.
