A hurting father is looking for his missing 16-yesr old daughter

Sabata Leeto from Mokwena Location in Thaba Nchu, is worried and heartbroken over the disappearance of his daughter Nthabeleng Leeto, a 16-year old attending Moroka High School in Thaba Nchu.

The father said Nthabeleng is a problematic child who doesn't listen and often doesn't sleep at home but he is worried sick about her. Together with Nthabeleng's mother, they just want to see her back at home as they are really worried about her, and her safety.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact her parents on 0632466294 or 0628011981.

Its allegedly that she was last seen wearing blue denim jeans, a green identity hoodie, black hat and white shoes.

Its further alleged that she was last seen waiting for a bus to Bloemfontein.

Rising Poetry Star, Omphile

At just 18 years old, Omphile Blessing Sello from Turflaagte in Bloemfontein, Free State, is reaching for the stars by turning her passion for writing into a successful journey as an author and poet.

Influenced by her surroundings and her mother, who is also a poet, Blessing developed a love for poetry and writing.

“I was influenced by my surroundings as my mother is also a poet,” she explained.

Her journey began with public speaking at Toka Primary School, where she hosted assemblies and delivered speeches, gradually fostering her love for poetry.

In 2015, she joined the Charmza Literary Club, and in 2016, she had her first performance at PACOFS.

Blessing’s greatest achievement in poetry came when she published her first poetry book, “Roaring Words”, at the age of 16. “I celebrated my sweet sixteen with that book,” said Blessing.

The title was inspired by her clan name and ancestors, as she is a Motaung.

In 2023, she faced a significant challenge when she struggled to find a publisher for her work. Nevertheless, she continues to grow as a young poet, striving to connect with people through her writing.

“My poems are about identity, hope, and strength for young and first-time poets. Expect new work to resonate deeply,” Blessing expressed.

Blessing will be performing at the 2nd Annual Free State Veterans Poetry Festival, taking place from 20-23 September at the Civic Theatre in Bloemfontein. For Blessing, the occasion marks not only another performance but also an opportunity to showcase her talent.

A multi-disciplinary operation led by the Provincial Organised Crime unit, in collaboration with the Shoprite Group's investigation team, resulted in the arrest of an 81-year-old man on Thursday, 11 September 2025, for a range of charges including theft, possession of suspected stolen goods, and contraventions of various acts.

​The sting operation, which took place in the Bloemfontein CBD, involved a search warrant executed at a premises allegedly selling second-hand goods to the public.

​Upon searching the premises, the joint team discovered a significant quantity of illegal and unauthorized items.

These included expired food products and goods, unauthorized medication and products exclusively branded with the Shoprite Group's logo worth an estimated R110 000.

Thaba Nchu Pothole Repair Project aims to restore local roads

Residents in Thaba Nchu have taken a commendable initiative to tackle the increasing safety issue of potholes on their streets. Originally sparked by casual conversations among neighbors, this community-driven crowdfunding effort has gained momentum and is making a notable impact.

The residents from a specific street, alongside supporters from other areas, successfully raised enough funds to purchase over 140 bags of asphalt, which have already been utilized to repair multiple potholes. Although the project is ongoing, the progress achieved thus far demonstrates the power of collective action in effecting real change.

The Thaba Nchu Pothole Repair Project aims to restore local roads, enhance safety, and illustrate how unity can lead to improvements in the community.

Entirely funded through crowdfunding and local contributions, this initiative showcases how grassroots movements can drive meaningful transformation.

“These potholes have been a daily safety hazard, and waiting for external help was no longer an option. By coming together, we’ve shown that we can create safer roads for ourselves and our children,” shared Keamogetse Ngakantsi from the Strata Sa Rona project.

The initiative has enjoyed strong support from local youth, who have eagerly participated in the repairs. The organizers are now planning to launch an official crowdfunding campaign to gather more resources and finalize the remaining repairs needed on the street.

Looking to the future, the project’s vision aims to extend beyond just one street.

“This is only the beginning. We want more people across Thaba Nchu to get involved. If we can do it here, it can be done in other parts of our community too,” said Ngakantsi.
