Johannesburg – Former justice minister Penuell Maduna says the democratic government should pay constitutional damages to families and victims of apartheid-era human rights violations.
He spoke on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, on day 83 of public hearings of the TRC Cases Inquiry in Newtown. Retired justice Sisi Khampepe chairs the commission. Its terms of reference include whether reparations should be paid to survivors and their families.
