Local musician Lily Hollows loves a little flair with her food - and for her, Zorbas Taverna in Boksburg is the ultimate Greek spot in the East. “Lights! Camera! Sequins! And the gyros? Unreal. There’s something nostalgic about sitting around a big wooden table outdoors, the smell of lamb and spices in the air, bellydancers performing nearby - it’s giving ‘family’, ‘wholesome’, ‘feast’, and hearty.” Whether it’s a weekend unwind or a full-on feast, Zorbas gets her seal of approval.

The smoky aroma, vibrant energy, and that genuine welcome. The brisket melts in your mouth, the ribs are smoky and ridiculously tender - it’s comfort food with a gourmet twist.”
For a savoury snack, Circle C Meats in Boksburg is her go-to. “They’re brilliant butchers, but for me, it’s all about the biltong.
