NOTICE OF WATER USE LICENCE APPLICATION IN TERMS OF SECTION 40 OF THE NATIONAL WATER ACT, 1998 (ACT NO. 36 OF 1998)

Project Description: Highveld Organic Products (Pty) Ltd has appointed Tricon Environmental (Pty) Ltd to apply for a Water Use Licence (WUL) to abstract 95 950.94 m³/annum of groundwater from six (6) boreholes for irrigation and associated activities related to mushroom production. Groundwater is also used for gardening and domestic purposes. Used water is stored in dams and reused in composting. The site includes septic tanks and a calcamite treatment system servicing approximately 450 people.

Location of the activities:
The site is located in Knopjeslaagte, Centurion, approximately 14 km south of Pretoria, Gauteng Province, and is accessible from Summit Road (off the N14).

Approvals required from the Department of Water and Sanitation:

The following water uses in terms of Section 21 of the National Water Act are applied for:

* Section 21(a): Taking water from a water resource.
* Section 21(e): Irrigation of land with water containing waste generated through industrial activity.
* Section 21 (g): Disposing of waste in a manner that may detrimentally impact a water resource

Public Participation Process:
Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) are invited to register, comment, or object to the proposed water use licence application within 60 days from the date of publication of this notice (28th of November 2025), but no later than 27 January 2026.

1. A rule nisi is issued, calling on any interested party to show cause in the above Honourable Court on 20 January 2026, why the Court should not make an order presuming the death of ANDREW MARTIN BALL (Identity Number: 640523 5047 08 6);

2. This order shall be served on all known family members of ANDREW MARTIN BALL and a supplementary affidavit in respect of such service will be filed by the Applicant prior to a final order being applied for;

3. This order will be published as soon as possible once in a nationally circulated newspaper and once in a locally circulated newspaper (Randfontein Herald) and that a supplementary affidavit in respect of such publication will be filed by the Applicant prior to a final order being applied for;

4. This order is to be served on the Master of the High Court and the Applicant is directed to file proof of such service before the return date.
