🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT 🚨

Yesterday, a number of school children were allegedly assaulted by police. Today, learners have begun boycotting classes in protest, with nearby schools also being affected. At Zithobeni Secondary School, the situation has escalated classroom windows were broken and trailers were damaged.

We strongly condemn any form of violence against children and call for calm, accountability, and urgent dialogue between authorities, schools, parents, and community leaders.

Our learners deserve to be safe, respected, and heard. ✊🏽📚

Two learners accused of murder of another learner granted bail.

The Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate 's Court has granted bail to two learners from Lesedi Secondary School who are facing a charge of premeditated murder.

Mlehalinye Montasi (20) a Grade 12 learner was granted a bail of R6 000 while Kgothlelo Mathabathe (19), was granted the bail of R3 000.

The duo are accused of stabbing and killing fellow learner,grade 10 pupil, Lethabo Mokonyane (pictured) on 17 June 2025.

It's alleged that after writing exams, Mokonyane was on his way to the school gate when the accused confronted him.A fight allegedly ensued,during which one of the accused restrained him while other stabbed him multiple times with a sharp object.Mokonyane was rushed to hospital, where he died a few hours later.

In court,the accused applied for bail citing the need to continue their schooling.Prosecutor Karabo Sebela opposed bail arguing that Montasi is in the country illegally and therefore poses a flight risk.She further submitted that both accused are known to witnesses and may interfere with them

The magistrate granted them bail with strict conditions that the accused must attend court proceedings until the finalisation of the trial and may not interfere with witnesses.

The matter was postponed to 10 October 2025 for Regional court.

Former Bergview College principal, Jaco Piertese, has resigned at the school, citing that the misinformation about him allegedly having been involved in the sexual assault that Cwecwe suffered have discomforted him to continue serving as the school's headmaster. Jaco is said to be pursuing a legal route suing the politicians who were certain that he was behind the sexual assault Cwecwe suffered, which he was later proven to be not have been a perpetrator and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) discontinued the case due to lack of evidence.

In other news, a Fanie Piertese, who was a caregiver, was reported by Bianca van Wyk on X to have pleaded guilty for sexual exploitation of a child and sexual grootman. Fanie, who shares the same surname as Jaco, has inspired a conspiracy theory that p*deophilia runs in the Piertese family despite the two having not been proven to be family related.
