A family outing took a horrific turn when a Pretoria family discovered a body while fishing at Bronkhorstspruit Dam.
A Pretoria family’s excursion to Bronkhorstspruit Dam culminated in shock on Monday morning after they made a grim discovery in the water during what was intended to be a peaceful fishing trip.
According to Maroela Media, the family arrived at the Bronkies Nature Reserve at approximately 08:30 when their 12-year-old son entered the water and noticed what appeared to be a mutilated and decomposed body lying in the shallow area of the dam, prompting the family to raise the alarm.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that officers responded to the scene and opened a routine inquest docket.
She stated that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the cause of death.

The demonstration, which began early Monday morning, has since spiralled into chaos, with protesters burning tyres, vandalising public infrastructure, and disrupting traffic.
Street lights have been destroyed in several parts of the area surrounding the company’s premises, leaving residents concerned about safety.
“We are tired of empty promises. Some of us haven’t been paid for over two months,” said one worker, who asked to remain anonymous. “How are we supposed to survive?”
