THULAMAHASHE - Thulamahashe is a township in Bushbuckridge local municipality in the Mpumalanga province. Thulas, as the township is famously known to many residents of this dynamic region, falls under the demarcations of Ehlanzeni district municipality.

The postal address code of this thriving township is 1365 and it's one of the region's midland towns which is situated between Acornhoek, Manyeleti near Hluvukani, Mkhuhlu and Bushbuckridge areas. There are various sections like Block A, C, etc which separates this township into many locations. The town was named after one of the decedents of Amashangane's kingship.

According to Statistics South Africa's (SA Stats) 2011 census there were about 91.6 percent of people in the township who speak the Xitsonga (famously known as isiShangaan) language.

Thulamahashe Plaza which is located on the main road running through Thulamahashe, and is currently the only retail centre in the node. The plaza, which was officially opened by the former Premier of Limpopo Ngoako Ramatlhodi a few years ago, attracts a large number of residents from the nearby villages who does their regular shopping there.

Thulamahashe Music Festival, mainly known by its acronym the TMF, was one of the annual events that were often hosted at the famous Thulamahashe's new stadium. The stadium is situated near the busy plaza and is, at many times, a centre of among others local football and athletics' activities.

An ABC Motsepe League outfit, FC Benfica was one of the biggest clubs in the township which regularly use the astro turf stadium.

ACORNHOEK – Acornhoek is one of the largest towns in the far north-east of Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga. Khenhuk, as the area is popularly known, falls within the demarcation of the Ehlanzeni District Municipality. It is situated in the south-east of blossoming farms and game reserves-infested town of Hoedspruit.

According to Wikipedia, the name Acornhoek is variously explained as being an adaptation of Eekhoornhoek which is a 'squirrel corner'. It is derived from the German surname Eichhorn, and named after the acornlike fruits of the marula tree. The postal address code of this flourishing village’s predominated town is 1360 and it is situated near the famous Manyeleti Game Reserve. Several people from Greenvalley, Hluvukani and nearby areas regularly visit the burgeoning shopping centers in this town.

Tintswalo hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the area which cater people from even as far as Thulamahashe and Hoedspruit. It has approximately 423 beds and was first established in 1937. The hospital has a dedicated casualty, high care, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, psychiatric, surgical and medical wards as well as a busy operating complex. Tintswalo hospital is reported to be seeing up to 500 patients a day between the outpatients and casualty. The hospital shares a catchment area of roughly 1.5 million people with Rob Ferreira hospital in the CityofMbombela.

It is approximately 2 and half hours’ drive from Acornhoek to the CityofMbombela formerly known as Nelspruit which is the capital city of Mpumalanga province. One of the attraction places in Acornhoek includes among others the Railway Line. This magnificent but dilapidating railway line used to be a busy trains' station before it was closed a few years ago. The Main Road from Acornhoek Megacity Plaza adjacent to the ever busy R40 – which links Mpumalanga and several areas of Limpopo – is one of the busiest streets in the town. Acornhoek Mall or Plaza is currently the one of the busiest retail centers in the node.

The newly established radio station – R FM 1032 – is one of the surroundings broadcasters. Being referred to as the ‘Small Pitori’ of Mpumalanga due to it sparkling night life, Khenhuk is undoubtedly a fun and fulfilling place to work and hangout at. Notable places like Loa hotel and Delacasa Pub & Grill are the public’s attraction areas. It guarantees people a top level enjoyment and wonderful night life with its regular sparkling entertainments. Over 99% of people living in the area were black Africans with 73, 8% individuals speaking Xitsonga (famously known as isiShangaan) language while 16, 9% and 6, 1% speaks Northern Sotho and Sotho languages respectively.

Ehlanzeni TVET college- Mapulaneng campus attracts multitudes of students from across the country that goes to stay in the area to further their studies. Several prominent people from Khenhuk include the ABSA Premiership player, Rhulani Manzini who ply his trade for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit AmaZulu FC as well as Munghana Lonene FM presenter Xolani Ndlovu famously known as Xolani Wale Kenhuk. Retired veteran radio presenter Roy Roy Ngobeni is also from Acornhoek and Mpumalanga’s member of executive council Patricia Ngobeni.

Lost and found items:

A wallet containing of two smart ID cards, bank card and cash of ( R1000- R3000) was found in a commuter minibus yesterday ( 02 June 2019) in the evening. The owner of this belongings got off the bus in this suspected areas( Cork / Ronaldsey)

TAKE A GIRL CHILD TO WORKPLACE DAY CELEBRATION

In line with Goal number 3 of the Millennium Development Goals : to promote gender equality and empower women , South African National Parks ( Sanparks) with of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality will be hosting Take a Girl Child to workplace Day, tomorrow , the 30th May 2019, at Gold Fields Auditorium (Skukuza Camp), at 10H00 a.m.

About 60 girls from rural high schools within the municipal area of jurisdiction will partake on a hands-one experience of academic life in the park. The girls will also be informed of career options in Conservation whilst spending the day in the Kruger National Park‘s wild environment, experiencing all of its facets.

The programme is targeted learners in Grade 10 -12 with the aim of inspiring them to achieve their goals and ambitions as well as making them aware of the important role that they can play in the South African Economy and the participants are learners from Bakutse, Hlomani and Kurhula secondary schools.

The Executive Mayor Cllr Sylvia Nxumalo hopes that this platform will empower the girl child to make healthy decisions for their future while encouraging them to stay in school.

Premier announces new cabinet

The 1st lady of Mpumalanga, Premier Refilwe Tsipane has announced her new cabinet for the provincial legislature which consists of 5 men and 5 women.

The Premier says she has no doubt that all the newly-appointed MECs will perform their functions to the best of their abilities.

Vusi Shongwe, Norah Mahlangu, Sasekani Manzini and Gillion Mashego were the only ones to retain their positions from the past term, while Thandi Shongwe and Petrus Ngomana were redeployed to other departments.
