All good things come to an end. We were so glad that we decided to re-route this morning and go via Bathurst to come back home.
The Sunday Farmer's market was a delight. We were also able to get our favourite coffee fix from The Diesel Bean - Craft Coffee . We also enjoyed delicious toasted sandwiches and pancakes. We both love the whole vibe of Bathurst, everyone is so friendly and there are so many friendly dogs around too.
Next time we will definitely try the campsite in Port Alfred called Medolino Caravan Park , we only heard good things about it from the Bathurst locals.
From Bathurst we unhitched Tigger from Tiger as the road from Bathurst to Makhanda is full of twists and turns and Kate would have been a nervous wreck if we were towing the Jimny. We stayed unhitched all the way to PE and both listened to great music from Damian Schmidt on Algoa which made our solo journeys much easier and more enjoyable.
We usually always just drive past Sunday's River on all of our trips ( at the speed of 80km/hr as we have all received fines on that stretch of road), but today we decided to drive into the little town and take a look around . We went down to the river and checked out the picnic spots that actually look very nice and clean. For R60, you can launch a boat, if you have one (we don't)and have a picnic or fish. We stopped at Grunters Pub and had a very average fish and chips for R129, but it hit the spot.
Home safe to dogs who want to play ball and a pile of laundry.

We woke up with no actual agenda and then over a cup of coffee we have decided to pack up and head to Bathurst again for the Sunday Farmer's Market.

We left camp early. First stop Bushman's River to visit Glen and Rene and check on their flooring job.
As we passed through Port Alfred, we decided to take a look at the caravan park next to the bridge crossing the Kowie River. A car pulled out , so we drove in before the gate closed and then regretted our decision. As we entered the gates, we seem to have gone through a time warp and landed on the set of an 80's trailor park movie. People had mullet hairstyles and 1970s campervans, some with dogs fenced inside makeshift yards.
We decided to make a hasty exit and then realised we needed a code to open the gate. After eventually finding someone to open the gate we headed to Bathurst.

On our way we stopped at The Big Pineapple and had photos taken with a wedding party.

We then headed straight to the The Local Agriculture Museum Fair. It was like entering another delightful filmset of a bygone era. Wagon wheels, cannon balls, potjie competition. We started off with the most delicious coffee from The Diesel Bean - Craft Coffee and then proceeded to eat homemade hamburgers with real homemade chips followed by chocolate cake and pecan pie.
Of course a trip to Bathurst has to include a stop at The Pig and Whistle, where we bumped into Justin Stirk and a group of cyclists.
We then headed to The Sunset Market at Guido's in Port Alfred and Gary had a Black Label in Memory of David Shaka Macgregor . We devoured more delicious food of calamari tubes stuffed with chorizo and cheese and deep fried prawn poppers.
The same band was playing that we heard at Salty's in Morgan's Bay, so we went to say hello. We ended off with a coffee cocktail from The Diesel and Bean. ( their second market for the day)
We made it back to Cannon Rocks in time for the sunset.
Kate lit a fire to cosy things up and we drank tea and ate chocolate chip cookies that we had bought at the market.
Another good day.

Tiger Lily on Tour officially set up camp at 13h30
This was after Kate made Gary literally park in every open campsite until she chose the one she wanted. Site 44, with no immediate neighbours 😁.
Gary did everything as Kate always feels a bit useless when it comes to erecting the tent and awning.

The Ablutions look perfectly clean but definitely of no comparison to Morgan's Bay.

We had a breezy walk on the beach. Kate collected shells and Gary sorted out work issues.

Then a lovely rendezvous with Lerette Rudd and Gill Murrell who are also camping here.
Glad to have our sheepskin slippers, as the sun sets as there's a bite in the air.

We always drive straight past Tam Jazi, but so glad we stopped at this little gem. The gardens were beautiful with quirky signs everywhere.
The shop also had some lovely things and Kate bought some tea that apparently will literally cure any disease and a special mixture of spices that will make her lose weight amongst another list of benefits.
After leaving Tam Jazi we were pulled over by a traffic officer, just before Alexandria.
Kate made friends and told him to tell Gary that he was driving too fast.
Gary passed some banter in xhosa and he soon waved us on.
