Some days I can hardly believe that I live in such an incredible place.

I spent years of my life trying to see the world and it’s ocean dwellers.

When covid hit I was brought back to my homeland and given the gift of time fully explore what our oceans have to offer.

It changed my life, I have never felt more connect to this place I call home.

It is raw and alive!

I am so blessed to experience this and I am grateful to have this medium to share it with you.

The undersea world is magnificent on every scale, from macro to micro, the detail is stunning with every rock having a range of strange and other worldly inhabitants.

Anemone are some of the strangest of them, this Anthostella stephensoni, the violet-spotted anemone is definitely one of the weirder specimens out there, and only found in the South African waters.

Hello, my name is Nicholas.👋

It’s Africa Bro has increased in followers significantly over the last month. I thought I would introduce myself and what I.A.B is.

I am proudly South African 🇿🇦, born in the month of June ♊️and 33 years old. I am the founder and owner of It’s Africa Bro, an online-based diving school 🤿 with a specific focus on safety and a practice called “doing it right”.

I started my diving career in the South African navy and left service in 2016 to pursue travel and diving worldwide.🌍 Before heading overseas, I completed my commercial diving course in 2017. I spent three years teaching diving overseas in countries like Malaysia🇲🇾, Croatia🇭🇷 and the Philippines🇵🇭, to name a few.

While in the Philippines, covid hit, and I had to return to South Africa. Stuck in lockdown, I started to plan how I could make a living as a dive instructor in Cape Town. This is how It’s Africa Bro was born.

I am working my way to becoming a Technical diving instructor, with still 90 technical dives to go before I can do my technical diving instructor course. I will bring you along on the journey.

Heading out on Sunday with for a dive, we knew it was going to be good. The conditions where beyond what we imagined.

The surface temperature was a warm 16 degrees Celsius but once we past the 12 meter mark it dropped to 11 degrees Celsius. Thank goodness for our dry suits.

In total and I dived for 60 minutes. With 10 minutes of decompression included in that time.

Our deepest point was 32 meters on the deck of the SAS Good Hope.
