With it’s mission to provide education and accessibility in the art of the DJ and producer whilst maintaining a high standard of service, the academy offers an insightful, inspirational and informed experience. Combining traditional DJ methods and tools with the latest cut throat technology, the training received sets Beat Bangaz DJ Academy apart from other DJ schools. From novice, bedroom DJ or the seasoned performer, Beat Bangaz DJ Academy offers a range of courses and workshops to accommodate any skill level. It’s cost effective courses that’s conducted by accredited, professional and experienced trainers keeps students on par with the latest technology, developments and techniques. From its beginner courses to its advanced, the emphasis for the academy is also importantly on building personal relationships and a holistic approach to training. Beat Bangaz DJ Academy also boasts with it’s free workshop series, Lab Sessions, held on a monthly basis that introduces interested parties to new software, technology, guest DJ’s and producers and tools to promote self expression through music. Not limiting itself, the academy caters for all music forms ranging from hip hop, electronica, house, experimental and more. Students can also enroll into our Lab Practise sessions to hone and expand on their current skill level. Students receive manuals, supporting audio and video material and practical field work inclusive in all courses. With it’s mentorship approach combined with all supporting materials, Beat Bangaz DJ Academy ensures its students claim their stake in the art. Other services include:

All the stories coming in from our current students after doing the Beat Bangaz DJ Academy course honestly warm my heart. ❤️ It’s a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. From an introverted 13-year-old who stepped onto a festival stage and rocked the mic while DJing, to a student who had never even touched DJ equipment securing his very first gig last week — and earning his first paycheck through music. 🙌🔥

Let’s take it back to 2013, when the Beat Bangaz DJ Academy, then known as The Scratch Lab, made a major shift — from a prime location in Kensington to my living room. That small space became more than just a classroom; it became a hub of creativity, community, and purpose. It’s where we continued teaching, mentoring, and hosting our free workshop series, Lab Sessions — driven purely by passion and belief in what we were building.

About a year and a half later, we aligned with SAE and then Bridges for Music, forming partnerships that helped us grow, evolve, and reach new audiences. Looking back now, it’s humbling to see how relevant the conversations and ideas from that time still are today.

From the outside, what we do might look effortless — like a smooth journey of consistent wins. But behind the scenes, it’s been a mix of losses, doubts, sacrifices, and small victories that shaped our path. Every challenge has been a lesson, every win a reminder to stay grounded.

Over a decade later, we’re still students ourselves — constantly learning alongside our students, both past and present — now at our new creative home, Tiny Warehouse.

🎧 Beatbangaz DJ Academy Update
Our young DJs are progressing faster than we anticipated and it’s a truly exciting journey to witness!

This is the first time they’ve tapped into this level of technical scratching. In this session, they’re working on fader tapping as part of learning the transformer scratch technique, a key skill in the art of turntablism.

What’s even more impressive is how their scratches are starting to bounce with rhythm and melody, showing that they’re beginning to blend technical precision with musical expression.

At Beatbangaz DJ Academy, we’re proud to nurture the next generation of DJs who approach the craft with creativity, focus, and passion. Their growth reflects the essence of Hip Hop education discipline, skill, and self-expression through sound.
