Throwback When Bruinchild Media, Marshin Hendrix , and Bigbforever_cpt joined forces with MOSAIC: Support Heal Train to visit the Happi Chappi Seniors Club at Tafelsig Library, we were reminded that music and art can heal hearts. 💛🎶

We celebrated our Coloured culture, Kaaps language, traditions, and talent — loud, proud, and full of gees! 💃🏽🎶 From ghoema beats to Kaaps poetry, we showed the world that our heritage is alive and powerful. 💛

Dear Hon. Mr. Gayton Mckenzie

I’m reaching out with deep respect and heavy disappointment. I recently applied to the National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) (NAC) for funding to support the Aweh Cultural Showcase — an event I’ve funded from my own pocket for two years to preserve and celebrate Coloured culture. Last year, Oom Biza Van Die Kaap and Chad Kramer witnessed the success of this show.

I spent R7000 on audited financials and submitted every required document. Yet my entire application was disqualified because one reference letter didn’t have a date — a small, fixable mistake that could’ve been resolved with a call or email.

This was my first NAC application, and when I discovered the issue, I immediately sent the corrected document. I was told I could appeal under the National Arts Council Act, which I did on 30 September 2025, but I never received a confirmation email or any update. I called five numbers, sent four emails — and still, silence.

On Friday, the final results were released, and the Aweh Cultural Showcase was not selected. It feels unfair that one missing date erased years of effort, vision, and community impact before adjudicators could even assess the project.

Hon. Minister, We not asking for special treatment — just fairness. Please help me understand why my appeal was ignored and why a single technicality can silence a whole cultural movement.
