The rise of Podcasts seems to have awaken a fear among the gatekeepers... Listening to one (supposedly) counter Podcast discussing how there should be a control and some sort of gatekeeping in the production of podcasts just as it is in the mainstream media, one can sense the fear in what could be the end of their relevance in the entertainment industry.
From the prime days of DJ C's Gowelo beats and other important programs on TV and Radio, DJs and presenters have killed the dreams and ambitions of many Ghettoh Yuts. They have dictated who goes on air sometimes not because of good music rather money and friendship. Talented people have at times failed to break through because of the power such people hold. Today the narrative is slowly changing. You don't have to be on TV or Radio to blow, many platforms have opened up and given a chance to talented youths to make it on their own and now the masters want regulation of such platforms 😆!
Tha said, many people just like these DJs ndinu oipa, In the early days of Tiktok those who used to be stars on Instagram thought they'd migrate with their followers to Tiktok and continue doing whatever was making them relevant alas, Tiktok is about talent not who is the best dressed etc. With frustration such quoters started the narrative that pa tiktok padzadza anthu achimidzi a nyumba zopanda ceilling lol! These people if they were in control of the algorithm they would act the same way these DJs do.
