Good day, Bonteheuwel,
What an incredible few weeks it has been for our community. We have experienced a period of safety, with crime remaining low, and we have proudly welcomed the deployment of five permanent Metro Police Officers who are already serving our area with dedication. Added to this, many families have finally received their long-awaited homes. From the visits I have made, it is clear that these are not just houses being handed over, but homes being built with love, dignity, and hope for the future.
But I want to pause here. Receiving a home is a tremendous blessing, and while we rightly celebrate with those who have been granted this opportunity, I also understand the disappointment of those still waiting. That disappointment is real, and it is justifiable. What cannot be accepted, however, is when disappointment turns into bitterness. Rumours that children are receiving homes, or that unworthy or unqualified people are benefiting, are simply untrue and unfair.
As part of my oversight role, I can assure you with confidence that not a single unqualified person has received a home thus far, and none will. The process is being conducted with integrity. To spread false stories not only hurts the beneficiaries but also damages the fabric of our community.
Let us remember this truth: no good thing will God withhold from those who walk righteously. Even in times of waiting, our faith and our character are revealed in how we choose to respond. If you have genuine proof of wrongdoing, do not gossip—report it. But if not, let us not rob others of their joy. Instead, let us celebrate with them, trusting that in time, blessings will also come your way.
Bonteheuwel, let us continue to support one another, to celebrate each other, and to build together a community marked by hope, dignity, and unity.
I wish you all a safe and blessed weekend.
