Like him or dislike him, the Jamaican legends Buju Banton may have some points critiquing Afrobeats artists. His question is "what are these artists singing that is uplifting the lives of their people-Africans?"
Truth hurts and if you are an Afrobeats musician, game up your lyrics. It is not about shaking and bouncing to the tone of the music but about touching souls and making positive impact on the lives of Africans and world.
The Jamaican artists are walking the walk, so they can say these things because they have track records for glorifying our motherland-Africa! Why not Burna Boy, Dovido, and others?
It's time to talk about corruptions, lack of good governance, poverty, tribalism, unemployment, poor medical issues, illiteracy, drug issues, prostitution, and so many issues Africa is facing!
Making money is cool, changing a life is super cool!
Thank you Buju Banton for icing the cake by speaking your mind. Now, it's time for our Afrobeats artists to eat the cake with hard truth and improve on their lyrics.
Here are the detail synopsis of Buju's critiquing our Afrobeats artists:
REGGAE LEGEND| Buju Banton has criticised the Afrobeats artists who are making money out of their music without uplifting the consciousness of Africa.
In a interview, the Gargamel who recently performed at a sold out concert in America, said these artists would not have a good legacy when they pass on.
"Afrobeats is not uplifting Africa. It's not freeing the minds of the people," Buju Banton said.
"Yes, the artistes are making money, but what would be said of them when they're gone? When they couldn't use their music to uplift their people," he stated.
