"This is a generation I've learned to care for and love a lot, and I really see the growth in each and every one of them," Wayde van Niekerk told the media.

All 16 (sixteen) clubs currently competing in the Betway Premiership qualify for the competition. All ties will be decided by a knock-out system.

Clubs will play each other in a single match. The club scoring the most goals in the match will qualify for the next round.

If both clubs score the same number of goals, extra time of 15 (fifteen) minutes each way will be played. If the score is level after extra time, penalty kicks will be taken to determine the winner according to the Laws of the Game.

Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has opened up on the intelligence gathered on little-known Lioli FC ahead of their CAF Champions League first preliminary round match at the Free State Stadium on Saturday.

"Of course, itโ€™s an important game and we take it very seriously. We are prepared for them, my players are ready,โ€ Ouaddou said.

โ€œItโ€™s a team that we have information [about], we have studied. We know their weaknesses and their strengths, and we are definitely ready to play the game. We are going to play the game with a lot of ambition.โ€

Free State Stadium is familiar territory for Ouaddou, who was with Gallants last season and would likely be feeling at home in Mangaung.
