The Harare Metropolitan Province Chairman, Cde Goodwills Masimirembwa, has called for intensified grassroots mobilisation, stronger cell-level organisation, and unwavering commitment to the revolutionary values of ZANU PF as the party moves to consolidate support ahead of key electoral programmes.
Addressing delegates at the First Harare Provincial Inter-District Conference, Cde Masimirembwa began by congratulating His Excellency, President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, on Zimbabwe’s successful election to the United Nations Security Council as a Non-Permanent Member. He described the achievement as a historic milestone that reflects the growing international confidence in Zimbabwe’s leadership, diplomacy, and the Second Republic’s engagement and re-engagement policy.
Cde Masimirembwa said the development is a source of pride for all Zimbabweans and a clear testament to the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa, whose administration continues to position Zimbabwe as a respected and influential member of the global community.
He reiterated that the strength of ZANU PF lies in its cell structures, which remain the foundation of the party’s organisational, mobilisation, and ideological framework. He stressed the importance of verifying and maintaining accurate and authentic cell records, urging all responsible officials to execute the process with discipline, transparency, and dedication.
“The cell remains the engine room of the party,” said Cde Masimirembwa. “Every victory achieved by ZANU PF begins at the grassroots level, where members engage communities and champion the party’s vision for national development.”
He further noted that the party’s Guide for Cell Chairpersons has been designed to simplify responsibilities, strengthen accountability, and improve coordination at grassroots level. According to Cde Masimirembwa, effective cells are critical to building a strong, responsive, and people-centred revolutionary movement capable of advancing the aspirations of Zimbabweans.
Turning to electoral performance in Harare, Cde Masimirembwa acknowledged that previous election results have not always reflected the party’s organisational strength in the capital. He called for renewed strategic planning, increased mobilisation, and greater unity of purpose to ensure improved outcomes in future elections.
He highlighted that Harare Province, with an estimated one million registered voters, presents a significant opportunity for growth and expansion. As preparations gather momentum for Cell Day on 27 June, Cde Masimirembwa set a target of registering more than 600,000 members while broadening the party’s support base across all districts and constituencies.
The Provincial Chairman also encouraged members to utilise social media responsibly as a powerful communication and mobilisation tool. He said digital platforms should be used to promote unity, counter misinformation, educate citizens on government programmes, and attract new members into party structures.
Cde Masimirembwa further pointed out that Harare Province holds 30 constituencies—the highest number in the country—making it a strategic province in national electoral planning. He expressed confidence that through hard work, discipline, and effective mobilisation, the province can secure at least 16 constituencies and contribute significantly to the party’s electoral success.
Reaffirming confidence in President Mnangagwa’s leadership, Cde Masimirembwa said ZANU PF remains united, focused, and committed to delivering continued victories, economic transformation, and national development in line with Vision 2030.
He commended Political Commissars, district leadership, and all party structures for their tireless mobilisation efforts and urged them to intensify recruitment campaigns while ensuring every member is properly registered at cell level.
The conference concluded with a renewed call for unity, discipline, patriotism, and stronger grassroots organisation. Delegates reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening party structures and advancing the revolutionary ideals of ZANU PF, with leadership emphasising that all electoral success begins at the cell level and that a well-organised grassroots base remains the key to future victories.
