Here's a simple recipe for a delicious Coffee cake:
*Ingredients:*
- *Cake:*
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 large egg, beaten
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- *Topping:*
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- *Glaze:*
- 1 tablespoon water
- 6 tablespoons powdered sugar
*Instructions:*
1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease an 8x8" square baking pan.
2. Whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Cut in butter until crumbly.
3. Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
4. Pour batter into prepared pan.
5. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter. Use a butter knife to swirl.
6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
7. Let cool for 15 minutes.
