Our MD, Amy Leibbrandt, spotted on Airport TV at Cape Town International Airport.

Amy was chosen as part of Leap by Provantage Women’s Month campaign: “She Leads. We Listen.”

“This Women’s Month, LEAP by Provantage and the Shared Value Africa Gender Equality Unit (SVA GEU) are turning the spotlight on the women shaping South Africa’s media industry.

Throughout August, we’ll be:
- Showcasing inspiring women leaders across our national digital out-of-home network.
- Sharing their voices and stories on social media and in press features.
- Championing visibility, inclusion, and the power of leadership to inspire the next generation.

From short video messages to powerful portraits and quotes, these leaders will be seen and heard nationwide - because when she leads, we listen.”

PROVANTAGE DUKE.

Amy is the Managing Director of FAME, our media agency. She’s also an amazing leader, mom and pole dancer. Turns out Glamour South Africa thought so too.

Our CEO Wayne - who can be found in the gym most mornings - said, “If I tried that I’d probably break something”.

We think he should give it a go 🤷🏽‍♀️. Click below to read Amy’s story about expression, empowerment and healing.

This month's thought-piece brought to you by Georgina!

The Impact of Having A Healthy Work Environment

A healthy working environment is essential for a business’s success. It enhances productivity, retention, and staff morale. Employees who feel supported at work are more likely to perform at their best.

Given that employees spend most of their time at work, a hostile environment can severely impact their mental and physical health. Studies indicate that employees in unhealthy workplaces with unrealistic demands are more susceptible to anxiety, stress, and sometimes depression. The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) reports that workplace stress affects 80% of South African employees, costing businesses billions in lost productivity each year. A work environment with high expectations, excessive workloads, and limited growth opportunities can lead to absenteeism and eventually resignation.

Workplace leaders play a pivotal role in fostering a positive work environment. If the workplace feels hostile, employees are likely to leave or underperform. A lack of success or growth opportunities is one of the leading causes of high staff turnover. According to a 2022 survey by the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP), 45% of employees cited a lack of career progression as a significant reason for leaving their jobs.

Wellness days are crucial for assessing the overall health and enthusiasm of employees towards their work. Employees who receive respect and appreciation are more likely to put their best foot forward. Establishing a succession plan that ensures career growth can further inspire employees and drive them to exceed expectations. A 2023 survey by CareerJunction found that 92% of South African employees would remain with a company longer if it invested in their professional development.

In conclusion, workplace managers must prioritize their employees' well-being to ensure high-quality work and overall business success. Content employees also become ambassadors for their organizations, making the company a desirable place to work.
