Start with what you have. Become a coach. Utilize Sport to keep boys and girls off the streets, give them purpose, a sense of belonging and help build a brighter future through sport and education.

WOMEN OVER 40… WHAT IF YOU COULD CHANGE A YOUNG PERSON’S LIFE THROUGH SOCCER? ⚽️❤️

I often find myself standing on the sidelines, looking around and thinking…Where are the women?
In my area, there are almost 50 male coaches and only a handful of women stepping onto the field.

And I keep asking myself: Why?
Maybe we think we’re too old, Maybe we think we need coaching qualifications, money, equipment or connections, Maybe we think, “What do I know about soccer?”

Let me tell you something…I started without money. Without a network. Without proper equipment.
I simply had a willingness to learn, to show up and to serve young people. And somewhere along the way, I realised coaching was about so much more than soccer.

It was about teaching a child to believe in themselves.
Giving them discipline and structure.
Listening when they needed someone.
Teaching teamwork, respect and resilience.
Helping them see possibilities beyond the field.

Our children need women in these spaces.

They need us to bridge the gap between the player, the parent, the coach and the community. And perhaps, at this stage of our lives, we are not looking for another job. Perhaps we are looking for purpose.

So, woman over 40, what if your next chapter isn't about slowing down? What if it's about becoming a Playmaker? You don't need to have everything to start.

You just need to start with what you have. ❤️⚽️

From One Ball to the Boardroom ⚽️

I never set out to become a soccer person. I’m a dreamer. My thing has always been about reviving dreams and creating possibilities where people may have stopped believing, Then soccer found me.

I saw what could happen when you simply start with what you have. One ball. A few young people. A neighbourhood. No money, no big contacts, no perfect skills just the courage to start.

And today, that little beginning has taken me into rooms I never imagined I would be sitting in. Today was a boardroom day. Not a meeting with Soccer Beyond Borders, but the conversation and the concept led to a connection that opened the door to something much bigger youth development, possibilities and new relationships.

It reminded me that grassroots soccer isn’t only about what happens on the pitch. There is coaching, administration, relationships, strategy and building something that can outlive you.

So I’m asking the ordinary woman who has ever thought, “I wish I could do something for the young people in my community…” Maybe you can, you don’t need to know everything. You just need to be willing to start and learn along the way.
