‘Maputo - a homage to memory’

“This shoot pays homage to memory. I saw these bright and lived spaces in Johannesburg and they evoked memory of the bright colours I would see in the streets in Maputo whilst playing as an interest-piqued child. These are inspirations I carry with me as a storyteller.

O Calor de Maputo the heat in Maputo

This collection evokes memory stored within us. Bringing out heat and other sensations the body captures through colour, movement and play. The freshly finished scent of beer trinkling out the bottle with the bright red logo. To the area the sun hits the fruiterer’s face, accentuating select features whilst casting shadows on others.

This revisit has made me realise these sensations of warmth, colour and emoting stored within me. This reawakening drives further my creative.

It keeps my imagination alive when it comes to storytelling. A calling I am learning to be present in.”
