Not sure if everyone who raced this weekend felt the same, but I stood at the The OUTsurance Gun Run starting line yesterday with so many mixed emotions and an overwhelming sense of anger.
It was hard to sleep the night before thinking about the horrific case of the missing runner—yet another woman.
Hearing how the 2023 teacher’s case was settled just added to the trauma. How are we still living in a world where you can join an organised, planned run and still be killed?
I felt so awkward even daring to run while constantly checking the news for updates. But I also felt rebellious—like screw these men, we will run anyway.
They give us reasons to hate them every single day.
Even during the race, the moment I broke away from the pack, fear crept in. 😤
It is so heartbreaking that another child is left without a parent because people chose to strip a woman’s right to just enjoy an ordinary day ~ running in her neighborhood.
Staying healthy and just enjoying a life she’s built around her health & wellbeing.
Even post race it just felt weird like what the hell is going on around us?
I can’t believe innocent lives these women built themselves and worked hard for are stripped by people with little to nothing to add to it. Literally 🚮
