Hi everyone,

I would like to extend a massive thank you to every visitor, supporter, artist, crew member, and member of the Modem network who contributed to making this event production a reality.

Although this was officially the first Modem in South Africa, we are a crew with over a decade of experience in organizing festivals in Croatia.

Ever since I first came to South Africa, I fell in love with its people and natural beauty. After announcing this event in 2019 and then being forced to cancel due to COVID and other challenges, we finally joined forces with Our Minds, expanded our network of creative and talented artists, and showcased some of the best psychedelic art our scene has to offer to the people of South Africa. At the same time, we highlighted some of South Africa's finest musical talents on a global stage.

Modem is more than just a festival; it’s a concept, a fusion of art, visuals, and music. Our goal is to elevate the psychedelic experience to a whole new level by focusing on the small details, and I believe we have presented this concept to you in all its glory.

Our journey in South Africa has just begun. After a short rest, we will announce the dates and plans for next year.

Next Modem event: August 4–10, Croatia

Absolute Threshold is the solo Psychedelic Trance project of South African DJ Yaseen Hartley.

Yaseen’s love for music begun at a young age with a wide range of genres such as hip hop and rock music as a motivational platform… Following this path, he inevitably fell into the more underground end of things, appreciating the more technical, organic and psychedelic sounds.

Yaseen was always very passionate about music. Although DJ’ing started out as a hobby for him in early 2016, after having gone for his first DJ lessons with DJ Josh Mac, DJ'ing quickly manifested into a serious passion for him. With his consistent hard work and the development of his own unique style and sound, he has what it takes to get crowds warmed up with his full power psychedelic, deep melodic and groovy more aesthetic sound.

Absolute Threshold played his debut Psytrance DJ set in the Garden Route, at Sonic Revolution festival in the Tsitsikama forest, Eastern Cape. Since his debut in 2016 he has grown as a Psytrance DJ, playing at indoor and outdoor events locally and nationally such as Urban Tribe’s The Playground festival Vol. 3 2017 (KZN), SouthernTipsy Underground Deception festival 2018 (Cape Town), Freaky Forest-Frenzy festival (Eastern Cape), Freaky Forest-Faisca festival, Freaky Forest New Year’s festival 2018/2019, Freaky Forest - Fractal March 2019, Zodiac, State Alchemy, Ear's Don't Lie, Trancemission, Paradigm, The Psygasm Experience, Viral Spiral, SouthernTipsy Winter Unleashed 2019, Our Minds Music festival 2019 and Alien Safari Masque Ball festival 2020 to name a few... He has also featured on the Saturday Psydshow on Muthafm.com as well recorded an exclusive Podcast for the international record label, Sinuessa Records.
