Kenneth Mokoena appeared in court yesterday. He is accused of exhuming the remains of his father, Bheki, and his grandfather, who both passed away in 2010.

He told the court that they came to him in a dream, saying they were cold and asking him to bring them into the house. He then did as they asked and brought them in.

He is confused about why he was arrested and is asking the court to release him so he can continue the work he has started, as he does not want to anger the ancestral spirits.

Boy, 6, roaming hospital's maternity ward 'k!lls newborn baby girl'

A 6-year-old boy "left to roam around a maternity unit" allegedly k!lled a newborn baby.

A criminal enquiry has been launched in France following the tragic incident.

A baby identified as Zayneb-Cassandra, who was born premature to a 23-year-old woman earlier this month, suffered a traumatic brain injury last Friday, July 11, after the boy "treated her like a doll" and dropped her on the floor of the Jeanne-de-Flandre Children’s Hospital in Lille.

The boy had already been reported as a "disruptive presence" in the hospital before he was found alone with the unconscious baby in a neonatal unit.

The baby was her mother’s first child, and she was delivered by cesarean section.

"The delivery went very well, but the little girl was premature, so she was taken to a neotatal unit, while her mother remained in a maternity ward," they added.

The "disruptive six-year-old", said to be the son of another mother who was in a maternity ward, was spotted wandering around the hospital unattended.

Zayneb-Cassandra’s grandmother told the Voix du Nord newspaper: "The boy would arrive at 7am and spend all day running up and down the hallways.

"All the mothers were complaining, and a nurse even warned the child’s mother that there was a problem. He was entering the other rooms.

"He also entered Zayneb’s room for the first time. He said she looked like a doll, and my husband, who was there, took him out."

Last Friday, Zayneb’s mother was signing discharge papers, when "all of a sudden, the family received a call from a ward manager, saying they needed to come right away – a little boy had been playing with the baby, who had fallen."

According to the family, who cite another mother in another room, "a loud bang" was heard when the baby’s head connected with the ground.

Zayneb was found unresponsive on the floor, next to the six-year-old, who was on a chair.

"It seems he tried to grab her

Mpumalanga Man Who Bribed Police with Fake Notes Granted Bail — Then Pays Bail with More Fake Notes, Disappears Again

eMalahleni – Just when authorities thought they had seen the last of him, Skhothane MacGyver — the notorious Mpumalanga man who single-handedly destabilized the province’s bribery economy using counterfeit R200 notes — has pulled off what SAPS is calling “Season 2 of his criminal Netflix special.”

After being arrested this week for bribing traffic cops with fake money and costing the province nearly R200 million in fake-friendly fines, Skhothane MacGyver was granted bail on Monday morning — a decision the magistrate now regrets “with the weight of a thousand fake fivers.”

The bail was set at R5,000, and witnesses say Mr. MacGyver paid it on the spot with a thick wad of “freshly-printed” R200 notes that still smelled like Pritt glue and printer ink.

Court clerk Thandi Mokoena told reporters: “I saw the notes and thought, ‘Eish, this man is serious.’ But then one of them had a picture of a cow wearing sunglasses and another one said ‘Two Hunnid Rends’ in crayon. I should’ve said something. But honestly, I just wanted to go on lunch.

A 102-year-old woman was r***d and brutally murdered during a house robbery in Bawa Location, Butterworth, in the Eastern Cape.

It is alleged that the elderly woman was asleep in her home when the suspect gained entry through a window on 2 July 2025. Her lifeless body was discovered the following day, showing injuries to her upper body. She had been r***d before she was murdered.

A case of murder, r**e, and burglary is under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Women For Change strongly condemns this horrific act of femicide. This brutal attack is not only an unspeakable violation of human dignity, but also a heartbreaking reminder that no one, regardless of age, is safe in our country.

We once again urge the South African government to declare GBVF a National Disaster.

Four Young Men Arrested After Repeatedly Breaking Into Pollsmoor Prison to Learn New Skills

Four young men who passed their matric exams with flying colors last year have been arrested — for repeatedly breaking into Pollsmoor Prison. Their crime? “Trying to better themselves,” they claim.

According to police spokesperson Captain Nomvula Dlamini, the suspects — aged 18 to 20 — were caught inside the prison’s sewing workshop, passionately stitching orange overalls with industrial precision. “At first we thought they were inmates,” said a confused warden. “But then we noticed their enthusiasm. That’s when we knew… they were definitely outsiders.”

The group, dubbed the Pollsmoor Four, reportedly bypassed bursary applications, student loans, and the NSFAS queue by sneaking into the prison at night, blending in with inmates during morning roll call, and then attending vocational classes in welding, tailoring, and pipe-laying.

“They kept saying, ‘At least here we get three meals a day, learn skills, and no load shedding during exams,’” said one of the prison education oordinator
