Getting to Sibuya Game Reserve isn’t your typical safari arrival — instead of dusty roads, you glide along the for 45 minutes, spotting birds along the way, until the wilderness opens up around you. By the time you step ashore, you already feel like you’ve left the world behind.

Here, the Big 5 wander freely, and with nearly 400 bird species, every game drive or river cruise brings something new to marvel at.

I’m staying at Forest Lodge, in the dreamiest tent tucked beneath the trees. It’s glamping, but on a whole new level — elegant, solar-powered, and so peaceful that you fall asleep to the sounds of the forest (and the call of jackals) and wake up with birdsong.

And beyond the beauty, what makes this place even more meaningful is their dedication to protecting wildlife through the Sibuya Rhino Foundation. Knowing that every visit helps support that work makes the experience all the more special.
