Following the tragic collapse of a garbage heap in Kampala, Uganda, caused by heavy rains, which killed dozens and buried homes. This story focuses on young facilitators learning innovative waste management and rubbish reuse techniques to reduce landfill waste. We feature David Monday from Pendeza Shelters, a social enterprise transforming poorly disposed plastic waste into eco-friendly building materials. These materials are used to construct cost-effective eco-homes for homeless and disaster-affected communities, offering a sustainable solution to both environmental and social challenges.

Empowering local voices through film! Day 1 of the STEPS participatory film workshop in Zimbabwe. We are thrilled to have filmmaker Rumbi Katedza diving deep into story structure, ensuring a strong narrative foundations. Ngoni Nyembe covering the technical essentials of filmmaking, specifically tailored to the unique environment of Zimbabwe. Finally a key STEPS session on understanding consent, a vital step before any film production begins, ensuring respectful and ethical community storytelling.
