Projekt Ubuntu brought together an incredible community of people for their dental camp, and Black Media was proud to be behind the lens, capturing every moment. Local partners the Desmond Tutu Foundation & Mpilo Park, Masi Creative Hub, IAHV youth facilitators & Dent Care, alongside international partners Exchange do Bem & You2africa, and a brilliant mix of Brazilian and local volunteers, all showed up and showed out for this one.

🎹 Rest Well, Abdullah Ibrahim 🪽

The recent passing of the legendary Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) marks a poignant moment to reflect on a major milestone in Black Media’s history: producing the historic Jazz Epistles reunion concert almost exactly a decade ago. Over two sold-out nights at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, we delivered a flawless production to a distinguished audience that included socialites, politicians, and past and present Presidents.

The atmosphere was electric yet reverent, with the crowd hanging onto every note from a lineup that featured Abdullah back on stage alongside Bra Hugh Masekela and Jonas Gwangwa - 56 years after the Sharpeville massacre had driven the original Sophiatown bebop pioneers into exile.

It was a massive honor for the Black Media team to execute a project of this cultural magnitude, and we remain grateful to Tbo Touch and Gary Harlow for trusting us with their vision.

🐍 Black Media is Proud to Support the Masi Cobras — while South Africa takes on the Czech Republic Tonight ⚽

We're proud to support an initiative this good. The NFC Dignity Boys Soccer Club, a Masi Creative Hub program sponsored by Projekt Ubuntu, the Renata Salomone Institute, the Protea Project & Nonophela Holiday, takes young players from Masiphumelele and gives them way more than a soccer ball - structured training, life skills, mandatory community service, and a real shot at leadership, all wrapped up in one tight-knit team known as the Masi Cobras. We got to spend Youth Month filming these boys. This is what we mean when we say we're proud to do this work. 🐍🎥

The Cobras are currently fundraising for the essentials that keep the program running: safe transport to games, coaching, club registration, boots, shin guards, and a first-aid kit. It's the kind of behind-the-scenes support that doesn't always get the spotlight but makes everything else possible. If you've ever wanted your contribution to go straight to giving a kid a real shot... this is it. 🖤

⚽ Tonight South Africa Plays the World - in Masi, the Next Generation is already Training 🏆

The NFC Dignity Boys Soccer Program is more than a team. Born from the Masi Creative Hub, the Masi Cobras train not just to play... but to lead. Every player earns their place by giving back mandatory hours of community service, mentored by coaches Lwando Shaun Siboninge and Mbulelo Dumani. Funded by the Protea Project, Projekt Ubuntu, the Renata Salomone Institute & Nonophelo, this is what genuine investment in youth looks like.

Tonight the world watches Bafana Bafana and somewhere in Masiphumelele, a Cobra is watching back, dreaming of that same stage. 🐍🌍

We had an absolute blast on this shoot. The energy these kids bring is infectious, and that’s before you even factor in their skills on the pitch. Big love to the whole Masi Cobras family for welcoming the Black Media team and letting us tell your story. This is exactly why we do what we do. 🎥🖤
