When in Sri Lanka: Learn to surf 😁🏄🏼‍♂️🌺🌊✅

It’s been on Rhetts list to learn how to surf for years now. He’s attempted it a few times in South Africa and Bali but with no success. So we decided Sri Lanka would be the best spot to actually get a coach and do some lessons - there are plenty surf schools here! Weligama beach is the best spot for absolute beginners, and Hiriketiya is great for more advanced surfers. A 1.5 hour lesson and surf session is around $20 | R350, board and instructor included - and the dudes know what they’re doing here!🏄🏾‍♂️

Goal achieved! Don’t be surprised if the next time you see Rhett, he’s got long blonde hair and a tan. He’s a surfer dude now😉

No one talks about the incredibly rich and diverse wildlife in Sri Lanka🤯. The birdlife in Sri Lanka is some of the best we’ve ever seen, elephants roam FREELY in the streets here - what the heck?! (That’s not normal to us contrary to what people believe South Africa looks like😅) and finally, Sri Lanka is home to some insanely rare animals - we were lucky enough to see the sloth bear in Yala National Park!😱. If you love nature and wildlife photography like us, you’ll absolutely love Sri Lanka. Head to the national parks in Sigiriya and Yala for the best sightings🙌🏻

Hidden in the jungles and completly surrounded by wild elephants, this stay at near Yala National park was an absolute highlight of our time in Sri Lanka😍. It’s a little off-grid, eco camp with beautiful glamping tents, and traditional Sri Lankan meals.

They offer morning, full day and afternoon safaris in block 5 of Yala National park. This block is far less crowded and touristy but still has some of the highest density of leopards. We weren’t lucky enough to see any (another vehicle saw TWO🫠) but we did get lucky with the very rare sloth bear😍

If you love being in the wild and off the beaten path like us, add this place to your list! Not sponsored, we’re just big big fans😁

It’s our 10th year anniversary 😍❤️ and we’re currently celebrating this huge milestone on the epic island of Mykonos in Greece, totally unplanned, what the heck?😅

It’s crazy to look at how far we’ve come in the last ten years, from meeting in a club in Johannesburg as two little broke students to now being paid to travel the world and owning a house. What?!

Choosing a life together was the best decision we’ve ever made but the real magic is being able to spend everyday with my best friend, someone I’m totally obsessed with🥹

Chappie, you’re the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I love you and here’s to 80 more!🥂

We're Rhett & Claire, a couple from Johannesburg, South Africa. We will be leaving Africa in just a few months to embark on an adventure starting off in Asia! We would really love to have you follow along on this adventure! Our first few months will be spent in South East Asia where we are enrolled for a TESOL course in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam! Our goal is to document and show you guys as much of the process as possible while making it fun, informative and cinematic.
