Using cutting-edge GPS tracking, EarthRanger technology and trained Elephant Shepherds, SHIELD predicts elephant movements and prevents conflict before it happens, protecting both communities and wildlife without harming elephants. Combined with farmer training, beehive fences, environmental education and other innovative coexistence tools, the programme has delivered remarkable results. In areas once plagued by conflict, elephant destruction has been eliminated.
