Nosy Sakatia, often called โ€œTurtle Island,โ€ northwest Madagascar near Nosy Be is known for its resident enormous green turtles (Chelonia mydas) in their natural habitat. The island features a dedicated protection zone, the Ambohibe Turtle Reserve, where turtles feed on seagrass beds.. easy to spot and beautiful to swim with .. they are threatened by plastic pollution, trawler fishing in the Indian Ocean, and boat traffic but Sakatia is a sanctuary.
