Join us at the Cape Town Science Centre on Saturdays during August as we celebrate the achievements of women in science – past and present - with hands-on workshops and creative STEM activities that will inspire the next generation. Children will explore the wonders of science through the stories and breakthroughs of remarkable women who changed the world.
Our August weekend programme will honour inspiring trailblazers including Fatima Jakoet, South Africa’s first female Muslim pilot; Eleanor Anne Ormerod, a pioneering scientist who studied insects to help others understand their role in nature; Mae Jemison, the first Black woman in space; Desiré Wilson, a South African racing driver who broke barriers in motorsport; Hannah Schmitz, the sharp-thinking Red Bull strategist behind many Formula 1 victories; Dr. Deborah Kelley, a leader in ocean exploration; and Flossie Wong-Staal, a trailblazing medical researcher whose groundbreaking work advanced our understanding of viruses.
