The Groote Schuur Hospital Facility Board has taken custodianship of the Heart of Cape Town Museum, the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness confirmed on Wednesday. According to a Western Cape Government media statement, the transfer includes the museum’s entire collection.

Our guest speaker, Dr Charles Mpho Takalana (Deputy Director, IAU Office of Astronomy for Development), will present:
“From the Cosmic Dawn to a Better World” 🌍✨
Journey from the first light of the Universe—the cosmic dawn—through modern discoveries in radio astronomy, and explore how astronomy can inspire positive change here on Earth.

🔭 After the talk, enjoy a guided tour of the Observatory’s historic library, museum, and the 120-year-old McClean Telescope. Weather permitting, we’ll also open the McClean and smaller telescopes for an unforgettable night of stargazing!
