I have been in contact with Eskom management regarding the two faults in Ward 109 that are causing power supply disruptions, and I have just received the following feedback:

I have been informed that an underground Eskom cable has exploded at the corner of Musica Avenue and Alt Street in Macassar. I kindly ask residents in and around this area to please log service calls so that Eskom can prioritise this matter as an emergency.

Dear Residents,

I trust this message finds you well.

I am very pleased to announce that I, together with the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Human Settlements, recently met with the relevant officials to discuss the progress of Phase 2 of the housing project in Macassar. We also had an in-depth discussion regarding some of the challenges that residents in Phase 1 have experienced since moving in.

I am very satisfied with the progress that has been made thus far, and we are now ready to share this information with everyone. However, before we can hold a public meeting, we must first brief the Project Engagement Committee (PEC). We will do this as soon as possible.

Once the PEC has been informed, we plan to host a public meeting where I, the MMC, and the relevant officials will be present to share all information with the community.

We are currently coordinating our calendars, and if all goes according to plan, we hope to hold the meeting later in October.

As usual, I believe it is important to also hold a general public meeting. This will ensure that residents not only receive the good news regarding the housing project during the housing meeting, but also have the opportunity to raise other community-related issues during the general meeting.

Both meetings will preferably take place in the evening to accommodate those who work during the day. Please keep an eye on my page – as soon as I receive confirmation of a suitable date, I will share it with you immediately.

Geagte Inwoners,

Ek vertrou dit gaan goed met u.

Ek is baie bly om aan te kondig dat ek, saam met die Lid van die Burgemeesterskomitee (MMC) vir Menslike Nedersettings, onlangs met die betrokke amptenare vergader het om die vordering met Fase 2 van die behuisingsprojek in Macassar te bespreek. Ons het ook in diepte gesels oor sommige van die uitdagings wat inwoners in Fase 1 ondervind sedert hulle ingetrek het.

Ek is baie tevrede met die vordering wat tot dusver gemaak is, en ons is nou gereed om hierdie inligting met almal te deel. Voordat ons egter ’n openbare vergadering kan hou, moet ons eers die Project Engagement Committee (PEC) op hoogte bring. Ons sal dit so gou moontlik doen.

Sodra die PEC ingelig is, beplan ons om ’n openbare vergadering te hou waar ek, die MMC en die betrokke amptenare teenwoordig sal wees om alle informasie met die gemeenskap te deel.

Ons is tans besig om ons kalenders te koördineer, en indien alles goed verloop, hoop ons om die vergadering later in Oktober te hou.

Soos gewoonlik, glo ek dit is belangrik om ook ’n algemene openbare vergadering te hou. Dit sal verseker dat inwoners nie net die goeie nuus oor die behuisingsprojek tydens die behuisings vergadering ontvang nie, maar ook die geleentheid kry om ander gemeenskapskwessies tydens die algemene vergadering aan te spreek.

Beide vergaderings sal verkieslik in die aand plaasvind om diegene wat deur die dag werk, tegemoet te kom. Hou asseblief my blad dop - sodra ek bevestiging oor ’n geskikte datum ontvang, sal ek dit onmiddellik met u deel.

I have been informed that residents in Macassar, including those in some of our City of Cape Town rental units (flats), have once again lost power due to an Eskom fault shortly after their supply was restored.

I have made urgent contact with Eskom management, and they have specifically requested the following of residents:

I would like to thank all the residents who have actively been logging calls. However, unfortunately, very few residents have logged calls to report the issues to Eskom.

Dear Residents of Ward 109,

I have just been informed by 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 in partnership with the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿 that there will be an Induction Drive taking place for all youth in Ward 109 who have completed their Matric.

This session is extremely important, as it will provide detailed information about an upcoming learnership opportunity that can open doors for employment and further skills development.

The contractor responsible for waste management services in our area is currently looking to fill the position of a Supervisor. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience and leadership potential to step up and play a valuable role in keeping our community clean and well-managed.

𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

* Grade 12 OR 1–2 years’ experience in waste management or cleaning services
* A National Diploma will be an added advantage
* Fluent in English
* Physically fit
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Able to supervise staff
* Able to use own initiative and be proactive
