You may not have heard from us in a while — but we’ve been working hard.

Turns out, launching a social impact startup and building an app… not so simple 😅

But we’re learning, growing, moving — and we’re excited to share that 13 incredible nonprofits have joined us to pilot the very first version of the Thina app.

We’re building this platform with their voices and yours — volunteers, changemakers, and everyday people.
We don’t have all the answers, and that’s exactly the point.
We’re doing it together.

That’s the spirit of volunteering — and of this country.
When we show up, support each other, and combine our efforts, we create something unstoppable.

This is just the beginning.

🌍 Building Thina – A Labour of Love for South Africa 🇿🇦

The journey to Thina started with a simple mission: make volunteering accessible to all, bring our communities closer together, and celebrate the spirit of Ubuntu. As a team driven by passion and South African roots, we’ve experienced firsthand the challenges of finding meaningful ways to give back. We knew there had to be a better way – one that removes barriers and makes volunteering part of everyday life.

At Thina, we’re creating a space that doesn’t just match volunteers with causes but builds a community of people working together to create real impact. From Cape Town to Johannesburg, we’ve felt the incredible power of unity and giving, and we’re inspired every day by the dedication of local nonprofits and everyday changemakers.

So what’s next?
Early 2025, we’re launching an app that goes beyond a typical volunteer platform. With real-time event sign-ups, a dashboard to track your journey, and a points system to reward your efforts, we’re creating something new and needed. But it’s not just about tech – it’s about connection, community, and a commitment to something bigger than ourselves.

This is just the beginning. We’re dedicated to growing Thina into a movement that inspires South Africans – and eventually the world – to give back in ways that are easy, meaningful, and lasting.

🐾✨ Unleash the Fun: Puppy & Dog Training at TEARS! 🎉🐕

Calling all dog lovers! TEARS is on the hunt for enthusiastic volunteers for our weekly Puppy and Dog Training Days. Whether you’re looking to lend a paw or simply soak up some puppy love, we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you. 🐶❤️

Here’s the Scoop:

📅 When: Every Friday or Sunday
⏰ Time: 1-2 PM
📍 Where: 4 Lekkerwater Road, Sunnydale, Cape Town
💸 Cost: Free (Just your time!)
Training Day Breakdown:

🕐 First 30 Mins: Train the big dogs on becoming more adoption-friendly. Teach them tricks like 'sit' and 'lie down'.
🕑 Next 30 Mins: Playtime with the puppies to socialize them and spread the love.
No Experience? No Problem!

🚫 Training Required: None! Just bring your love for dogs.
💪 We’re desperately seeking volunteers, puppy sitters, and anyone eager to help.
