Congratulations to our long-time collaborator Gavin Potter on the release of his How To Train Your Dragon theme arrangement! Always good to work with you, Cinemagic Scoring, and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra on projects like this.

I arranged a theme from How To Train Your Dragon and it recorded by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. I love John Powell's music and this film's soundtr...

Tl;dr the legendary Raindirk is extra sparkly and Tristan Miller is a genius!

Over the past few weeks, Tristan Miller of in Canada has been servicing our beloved Raindirk desk. Tristan is an international specialist in this kind of equipment. (As you can see, he’s been diving in.)

We believe in mending and maintaining things rather than constantly replacing gear. It’s wonderful that a 30-year-old analogue machine still outperforms many modern consoles. The Raindirk was handmade, so it seems appropriate to service it in this boutique manner—and you meet amazing people along the way.

Here’s to many more years of great sounding recordings courtesy of these Raindirk pres and human ingenuity.

We had the pleasure of recording an album with and the International Lights earlier this month.

It's a privilege to work with musicians of this calibre and hear these songs emerge in real time.

Brilliant, too, to work with people again and again over the years. Long live long collaborations, relationship, and processes!

Thanks to and Joan Codina for the incredible performances! And to for these snippets.

We’ve been busy with many beautiful things, and this is one of them: a series of remote sessions with Prof Dizu Plaatjies, who was presenting a workshop at HfG Karlsruhe in Germany.

Here’s the Cape Town cohort of players and technicians: Simpiwe Matole, Mathew Thiem, Laphakade Myataza, Claire Anderson, Bathandwa Magqaza, Dave Langemann, Iviwe Nkopo, and Lakheni Ntsodo.

The musicians were singing and playing traditional Xhosa bows and percussion, which are some of our favourite sounds to record. The players here collaborated with their fellows overseas to create a cross-continental concert in real time, which was an interesting technical challenge! Here’s to many more.

Always a pleasure to have in studio doing her thing! It's fun to work with a whole orchestra, but it's also lovely to be able to focus on a solo violin.

Yesterday we had gospel legend in studio with the incredible and . Here’s Dr T with our very own Swannita Denya!

Meeting famous people is a fun part of working in this industry. For us, the real stars are the kind people we work with every day. Swannita is an essential part of the team and it’s a privilege to work alongside such good, dedicated, and joyful folks.

It was great to have Thakzin in studio for a series of late-night sessions with his team: Zeleah De Souza, Pierre Johnson and NuroGroove.

It’s special when you get folks in the space and it feels like home

Things are always changing, and this week is no exception: André Hough, who has been part of our core team for over 3 years, is flying the Milestone nest. It’s always bittersweet when an engineer moves on, simultaneously strange not to have them here and exciting to witness their wing-spreading.

André, thank you for all your hard work. You’ve contributed so much to Milestone, and we’ve made some beautiful things together. It’s been a pleasure to watch you grow your skills here, and we look forward to having you back as a freelance engineer. We can’t wait to hear the projects you take on in coming months!

All the best for this next leg of the journey, and thank you for your efforts. We will always remember them. The world awaits.
