Waiting for the people who think train stations should have bookstores on the platform, to find our page so we can show them we’re actually building one.

Reflecting on when we started dreaming up the bookstore. From our first drawings of the tree, to meeting Julie-Ann from interior editing (we could not have pulled this off without her), to building veld mice for the tree and finding one of Ali’s logo sketches for the store from years ago. How incredible that before she knew about the Kenilworth location, she drew this door with stain glass windows at the top (our doors now have stain glass windows on top 🤯). God? You there? In amongst it all we have continued to create books, record audiobooks and expand our distribution. We’ve been pitching for funding, building new systems and writing to the fairies. 🧚 We wven sourced one of the original train lanterns used from many many years ago. What is so magic is that our focus as a publisher is story and creating the store has been one of the greatest stories we have embarked on.

Excited to keep going and keep dreaming bigger and bigger.

When we started Imagnary House we always said we wanted to build our lifestyle, not just a career. Some of our favourite things about this adventure is that we get to share it as a family. We get to dream big together.

What a beautiful thing to reflect on where inspiration comes from. When attending the last year, our creative director had the opportunity to explore the different bookstores in Bologna, Italy.
