IN CONCERT AT NORVAL FOUNDATION
On Saturday 9 October 2021 at 5pm, singer Lynelle Kenned and pianist Stefan Lombard will present a musical journey at Norval Foundation in Tokai. The much anticipated once-off performance will take the audience through the worlds of opera, traditional and contemporary art songs and melodies from the musicals. The intimate recital includes popular classics and local gems from Handel and Mozart, to Lloyd Webber.
As a duo Kenned and Lombard have long shared a special connection and they are firm favourites among local audiences. Their collaboration started in 2014 with the UK tour of Cape Town Opera’s Showboat. Subsequently they have jointly worked on various productions including David Kramer's Orpheus in Africa, Valentines under the Stars, Divas Unite, Cape Philharmonic Orchestra Community Gala concerts and similar popular orchestral showcases. Over the years the versatile couple has developed a diverse repertoire suited to a variety of musical events from soirées in private homes, to grand fundraisers and opulent concerts performed under the stars in the Namib Desert. At the start of the pandemic they were among the first performing artists to present a live stream show (as opposed to a pre-recorded one), encouraging many others to follow suit and combat the void left by closed concert and theatre venues.
Their special rapport has been enjoyed in many iconic destination venues across the Cape such as Casa L***a in Muizenberg and Klein Karoo Klassique in Oudshoorn, and in cities and smaller towns such as Franschhoek and Paternoster and, excitingly, there are plans underway for a European tour in the near future.
Tickets for this event allow for all-day access to Norval Foundation, an acclaimed centre for art and cultural expression, and dedicated to the research, education and exhibition of 20th and 21st century visual art from South Africa and beyond. Located in the Steenberg area of Cape Town, Norval Foundation combines the experience of art with an appreciation for nature. The Sculpture Garden, outdoor amphitheatre, purpose-built exhibition spaces and research library are situated in a unique setting that offers visitors a multisensory experience.
