The Association of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Malawi (AJWM) has officially inaugurated its new state-of-the-art Bible Educational Center and Assembly Halls in Lilongwe, aiming to expand its reach with the Word of God while strengthening charity initiatives, particularly in disaster relief.

Located in Area 38, the centre features modern training halls, accommodation facilities, and a cafeteria. It can host
up to 56 students in two cohorts, according to Amos Chirwa, spokesperson for
Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Central Region.

Speaking to Zodiak during a tour of the facility, Chirwa explained that since its upgrade in 2023, the centre has trained 1,367 students, eliminating the need to send trainees abroad, such as to Zambia, as was previously necessary.

Beyond offering free Bible education to equip students as effective teachers of God’s Word, the Centre also prepares volunteers to support relief efforts. “These volunteers often serve as first responders, assisting in reconstruction and recovery during natural disasters,” said Chirwa.

One of the graduates, Tayani Kaunda, now a trainer, said that the program has not only deepened his understanding of Scripture but also taught him compassion and strengthened his commitment to his family and community, in harmony with the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
