Last night we took a drive to the Warm Bokkeld snow hot spots in Ceres and stopped at Lakenvlei.
We were not disappointed.
Visibility was very low at it was around 18:00 but we had fun for about an hour.

We were amazed at the depth of the sheet that covered the ground.

The snow fall in Ceres and surroundings was amazing and way beyong expectations, unfortinately currently, Gydo, Swaarmoed and Theronsberg Passes all closed due to the snow ⚠️
The excitement is over the head but safety first. The municipality disaster management should advice when they think its safe to drive. You will be able to come into Ceres town but for now you cannot proceed further.

Note that the Gydo Pass (MR310) between Prince Alfred’s Hamlet and Op die Berg, was closed last night due to snow on the road.

The Theronsberg Pass (TR22/02) is being closed. Will close the road at the turn-off to Ceres from the N1 just outside Touwsrivier.

The Swaarmoed Pass is also closed.

We urge all motorists to avoid the area and make use of alternative routes where possible. Avoid unnecessary travel.
