Iran is sinds vorige week doelwit van aanvallen door de Verenigde Staten en Israël. Iran reageert met tegenaanvallen op verschillende landen in het Midden-Oosten. Ondertussen lijdt de eigen bevolking onder de aanvallen, maar ook onder de maatregelen die de regering van Iran neemt. Een greep uit de ontwikkelingen van afgelopen week:

• Het regime gebruikt scholen en ziekenhuizen voor militaire operaties. Veilige plekken voor kinderen en zieken veranderen hierdoor in mogelijke doelwitten voor aanvallen. 🏥

• De omstandigheden in de Evin-gevangenis zijn verslechterd. Sommigen leven nu letterlijk op water en een beetje brood . In deze beruchte gevangenis zitten veel christenen opgesloten.

• Op dit moment ligt het internet er bijna volledig uit. Miljoenen Iraniërs lijden hieronder; zij kunnen geen contact opnemen met dierbaren om te laten weten hoe het met hun gaat. 📱

Christenen in Iran leven tussen hoop en vrees. Ze bidden om bescherming en vrede. Maar ook om een hoopvolle toekomst. Christenen in Iran staan immers al tientallen jaren onder immense druk van de huidige regering.

💬 “De pijn die we doormaken lijkt op die van een bevalling”, zegt de Iraanse Sahar. “Die gaat gepaard met leed, maar we bidden dat de situatie snel nieuw leven en vrijheid mag brengen.

"On Saturday, January 24, our church chapel in Bogotá was vandalized by a group of young people belonging to the LGBT movement.

During the incident, banners, graffiti, and threatening messages were posted.

As a church, we respond in prayer.

We pray to the Lord for these young people, that they may come to know Christ and the transforming power of His Gospel.

At the same time, we rejoice in knowing that our church, in this area, is faithfully witnessing to biblical truth, to the point that the message of the Gospel does not go unnoticed.

We ask for your prayers and are always grateful for your fellowship."

Why would God ever instruct someone to seek a “blessing” from a man who teaches false doctrine and has covered up the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl? The very suggestion is blasphemous.

These celebrity teachers who boast of “hearing from God,” while twisting Scripture and building their own brands or empires, have never heard from God at all. They know what God has said because they own Bibles, but they despise the truth in them - because they don’t have the Spirit of God, and Scripture exalts Christ, not their egos.

and their false prophets are in the news again thanks to . What a blessing he is. This got me thinking about the war for truth and the important difference between finding unity on secondary issues, and drawing lines when deception is being overlooked.

8 years ago, .g.wood saw the way that Bethel and many false prophets were ravaging the church and poisoning the minds of young people with false doctrine. I was pastoring with him at when he said, “Hey, let’s write a book and just go after it. Who cares what people think. We’ve got a church to lead…” It was on a Sunday afternoon walking to our cars in the parking lot. I was all in.

We wrote with passion and fire in our bones, no major publishing contract, and no idea how to get this resource out so SCS helped us publish it. After it released, people called us every name you can think of, accused us of lying and just trying to stir up controversy, and threatened us. Some of my family members and leaders from Bethel/NAR (along with Todd White) were claiming that I was being paid off by John MacArthur to go after them (still waiting on my check 😆). It was an epic (but hard) time. Full scale war for truth.

Since then, God has used this rag tag book that was pretty much printed through Amazon (and looks like it) to transform lives and change minds. That’s hardly a boast about us. Only God could have done any of this. The book has a few typos (like just straight up misspelled words) and I think the cover was from one of those stock photo websites. But God took our 5 loaves and 2 fish and multiplied it.

Many friends have been pounding the drum for years. Guys like Justin Peters, the bros from cultish, and friends like . And then took everything next level 🔥And Jesus is rescuing more sheep from the teeth of wolves once again.

You might takes hits for standing up, but God will always vindicate His truth. Don’t stop.

I got love for my Pentecostal and charismatic brothers and sisters. And we can disagree agreeably. But false doctrine and deception is never on the table of unity.

Having recently discussed the importance of devotional reading with Doug Van Meter, Tommie and Banele talk through a practical method for devotional Bible reading, using Colossians 1:15–23 as an example.

Drawing from Charles Simeon Trust principles, he demonstrates how to identify repetition in Scripture, ask probing questions of the text, notice shifts in focus from Christ to the church, make connections to other biblical passages like Genesis and Romans, and transform study into prayer.

The discussion emphasises moving from self-focused to Christ-centred devotional reading, showing how proper textual analysis reveals that Christ is the creator, reconciler, and centre of all things.
