SHAKESPEAR RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘ASPHELE-LWANGA 2.0 [AFRICAN REPRISE]’ FEATURING ALTER EGO MFANUFIKILE

TEMBISA, SOUTH AFRICA – South African musical artist Shakespear has released his latest single and music video, ‘Asphele-lwanga 2.0 [African Reprise]’, introducing audiences to a unique collaboration with his introverted alter ego, Mfanufikile.

The new release, currently available on YouTube, delivers a powerful blend of emotional storytelling, African-inspired sounds, and contemporary rhythms. The track builds on the original version by exploring themes of resilience, remembrance, and community.

Shakespear, known for combining storytelling with vibrant and genre-defying sounds, uses the project to highlight the balance between his energetic public persona and his reflective inner self. Mfanufikile, his traditional home name and introverted alter ego, contributes soulful choral vocals that add depth and emotion to the song.

“This song is a tribute to endurance and community,” said Shakespear, adding that working with Mfanufikile allowed him to explore new creative boundaries and merge two sides of his artistic identity.

The production combines traditional African influences with modern beats, creating a sound aimed at connecting with both local and international audiences. Early feedback has highlighted the track’s emotional message, visual storytelling, and energy.

The music video for ‘Asphele-lwanga 2.0 [African Reprise]’ is available on YouTube, with a wider release across digital streaming platforms scheduled soon.

TWO SUSPECTS FATALLY WOUNDED DURING OPERATION TARGETING ALLEGED COURIER ROBBERY SYNDICATE

EKURHULENI - Two suspects were fatally wounded during a law enforcement operation targeting individuals allegedly involved in courier robberies and other violent crimes in Gauteng.

The coordinated operation involved SAPS Crime Intelligence Head Office, MDOC, SAPS Gauteng TRT, SAPS DPC Tracking Team, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialised Operations, Tracker Connect, and Gemini Global Defence.

The operation followed intelligence indicating that suspects involved in courier robberies and violent criminal activities were using multiple vehicles to commit crimes. Officers were deployed to the Boksburg area after receiving information that another robbery was being planned.

During the operation, members spotted an identified suspect vehicle, a Mazda CX-3 fitted with false registration plates. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects allegedly opened fire, leading to a shootout and high-speed chase.

The pursuit ended in an open veld, where two suspects were fatally wounded during the exchange of gunfire. A third suspect, believed to have been injured, managed to escape.

Unlicensed fi****ms and ammunition were recovered at the scene. Investigations revealed that the Mazda CX-3 was wanted in connection with a case registered in Wierdabrug.

Further investigations led officers to a suspected safe house in Germiston, where a Chevrolet SUV was recovered. The vehicle was established to be wanted in connection with a case registered in Booysens.

Authorities say preliminary investigations have linked the suspects and recovered vehicles to several serious crimes, including armed robberies, an attempted murder case in Norwood, and a courier robbery in Germiston, where security personnel were shot and injured.

Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement teams continue efforts to link the suspects to additional crimes across Gauteng and surrounding areas.

MALE SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED FRAUD IN DAVEYTON

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers, working together with South African Police Service (SAPS) Daveyton Detectives, arrested a 32-year-old male suspect for alleged fraud in Daveyton.

The arrest follows allegations that the suspect received R3,000 from a complainant to book an artist for an event. After receiving payment, the suspect allegedly sent screenshots claiming to confirm the booking.

On the day of the event, the artist failed to attend. The complainant later contacted the artist’s agent and was informed that no booking had been made. The suspect allegedly admitted to impersonating the artist using a different phone number and sending fraudulent messages.

The suspect refunded R400 but failed to repay the remaining amount. A fraud case was opened, and the suspect was arrested and detained at Daveyton Police Station.

He is expected to appear before the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF LIVE AMMUNITION IN IVORY PARK

A suspect has been arrested for the unlawful possession of live ammunition during a joint operation in Extension 8, Ivory Park.

The operation was conducted by the Ivory Park Task Team, Gauteng Traffic Police High Priority Crimes and Internal Affairs Unit, together with Fidelity ITOC, following information about a Mozambican national allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect was allegedly linked to incidents involving intimidation and robberies in Duduza, Ivory Park, and surrounding areas. It was further alleged that the firearm was occasionally discharged in public streets.

Acting on the information received, the team proceeded to the identified address, where the suspect was located and searched. Officers recovered a magazine loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

The suspect failed to produce a valid firearm licence or provide a lawful explanation for being in possession of the ammunition. He was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of live ammunition.
