The high court in Pietermaritzburg has ruled that the late former president general of the ANC, Chief Albert Luthuli was not killed by a train as it has always been claimed. Rather, he was beaten to death by apartheid era police.
While this may appear as not so important to some, it reveals the extent to which apartheid has no regard for human life, how people sacrificed so much during the struggle against apartheid and most importantly, it brings closure to the Luthuli family.
It also reminds us of how far we have come as a people and equally reminding us of the greater need to continue building a non-racial, non-sexist, prosperous and democratic society.
