The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture MEC. Mtomuhle Khawula visited the Caluza Sport Centre and Mphopheni Sport Fields on the second day of KZNDSAC/SALGA Games, which are currently being held in UMgungundlovu district .

The event is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, December 7, with a closing ceremony scheduled for the afternoon.

This event serves as a testament to the transformative power of sport in fostering unity and camaraderie among individuals. Let us rally behind our teams and demonstrate our unwavering support.

🚨🏀🔥

A thrilling action packed week at the Hoerskool Dr. E.G Jansen, which saw districts from all provinces competing in the Spar Netball National Champs.

UMgungundlovu District is one of the Districts that participated in the National Champs earning a first spot in their stream. The ladies worked hard together to deliver spectacular results for each and every match they played.

UMgungundlovu district reached the finals with no defeat, and lost at the final to King Cetshwayo.

The team representing UMgungundlovu included athletes from the Mkhambathini, Richmond, and Msunduzi Local Municipalities.

On 5 December 2025, during the Division B closing ceremony held at Hoërskool Dr. Jansen in Boksburg, the district proudly received their silver medals. This outstanding achievement will further support the athletes, especially those already in universities to maintain scholarships or become eligible for new opportunities in the future.

The much-anticipated SALGA KZN DSAC games for 2025, hosted by uMgungundlovu District, have officially kicked off with a bang following the official opening ceremony at the Msunduzi Athletics track this afternoon.

Attendees included KZN Premier Thami Ntuli, Sport, Arts and Culture MEC Mntomuhle Kawula, and municipal leaders from all eleven participating districts, including Ethekwini Metro.

The event is set to run until Sunday, December 7, with a closing ceremony scheduled for the afternoon. Ethekwini is no stranger to the top spot, having been the champions for almost two decades.

The competition promises to be an exciting spectacle, with athletes from across the province showcasing their skills and talents in over a dozen codes. The atmosphere is electric, and everyone is eager to see who will take home the coveted title.
