Kaizer Chiefs defender Bradley Cross’ career trajectory might have taken a very different turn, were it not for a poorly timed injury during a trial in the US. 🇺🇸

🗣️ “Bradley did travel to America to do trials, [with] LA Galaxy,” Cross’ father, Paul said via Diski Dads.

“He got there on the first day of training, went into a 50-50 tackle, and pulled his knee out. That’s how the injury came about.

“They assessed it with specialists and said it would be an eight to ten week recovery. That put an end to the assessment. They just sent him back, put him on a plane, and said, we’re not going to entertain it. Let’s see what happens once he’s recovered.”

Orlando Pirates legend Steve Lekoelea believes behind-the-scenes issues are delaying Relebohile Mofokeng’s move overseas 🇿🇦⚽

Lekoelea has described the young Buccaneers star as the best young footballer in South Africa, but admits it is surprising to see other players securing overseas moves ahead of him.

According to the former Pirates winger, the delay has little to do with Mofokeng’s ability, and more to do with agreements between the player and Orlando Pirates. He suggests the club may be valuing the youngster higher than the offers currently on the table, making negotiations difficult.

Lekoelea believes Mofokeng is more than ready for football abroad and has the ambition to test himself overseas. However, he warns that a prolonged wait could affect the player mentally and on the pitch, especially after watching his peers move abroad first.

Despite this, the Pirates legend insists the situation is about timing and negotiations — not talent.
