eThekwini which originates from the word "itheku" was named by Shaka based on the shape of that place at that time.

Itheku means a man or beast with one testicle.

Although,there are other translations, or and meanings on what iTheku is, but I believe Shaka indigenously named it correct.

The Zulu dialect spoken in the South West of Natal is highly influenced by large number of fugitives.

Fugitives like Bhaca clan,and the Nhlangwini's but the Nhlangwini dialect is no longer spoken in Natal.

A lot may be noticed in the dialect spoken in the South West of Natal.To be specific, the phonological substitution of glottal 'h' by 'kh'.

For instance, in words like "hamba" to "khamba" (walk), "isihambi as isikhambi" etc.
