Although Nikiwe Mchunu from KwaMashu is an experienced, independent tour guide in KZN, she’s never been to Cape Town - and now she’s counting the days.

She won two return tickets from LIFT Airline, SA’s most flexible airline, and plans to finally ride the iconic Table Mountain cable car.

“You won’t believe I used to have a huge fear of heights - until the Oribi Gorge wild swing cured me! Let’s hope I cope with the cable car and mountain, which I so desperately want to experience,” she said.

Renowned as ‘the ultimate shopping destination’ La Lucia Mall has brought huge smiles to five readers who participated in nominating or voting for their favourite businesses in The Best of Durban Readers’ Choice Awards. With a total sponsorship of R10 000, and all the winners ironically being women, some great shopping sprees lie ahead for them at La Lucia Mall.

1. Vijay Padayachee was most gracious and grateful when told she was one of five winners of a R2000 gift card sponsored by La Lucia Mall.

2. Sumaya Springle could not believe her luck when she was notified that she was a winner of a R2000 gift card from La Lucia Mall, exclaiming that this was her favourite mall!

3. “I’ve got goosebumps, I didn’t expect this news,” said an overwhelmed Cayla Hallett upon hearing that she was also a La Lucia Mall winner of a R2000 gift card.

4. An overjoyed Aneshree Poorai said her R2000 gift card prize will come in handy as in August it is her son’s birthday.

5. “Caxton and La Lacia Mall have made my day,” said an overwhelmed and grateful Charm Reddy upon hearing that she was a lucky reader winner. Presenting her with her prize is La Lucia Mall marketing manager Cindene Sheasby.

Noveshri Govender from Verulam, north of Durban, will be enjoying the SUNCOAST Durban Experience - a two-night stay at Suncoast Towers, including breakfast, two The Barnyard Theatre tickets and a R500 Suncoast voucher (valued at R13 660) - with her husband, Pregan Govender.

An excited Novi said they rarely get time to themselves between work and caring for their busy two-year-old son, Kayan, so the prize came at just the right time. “I cannot wait to flop onto the freshly made bed as soon as I step into the room, soak up Durban’s stunning views and ocean breeze, and I’m especially excited about my favourite thing - the yummy, delicious food that Suncoast has to offer.”

Novi voted for her favourite businesses that she had good experiences with while visiting or shopping and says voting in the Best of Durban Readers’ Choice Awards is a great way to say thank you to these businesses.
