Tyla, real name is Tyla Laura Seethal, was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Tyla is born in 2002 which makes her to be a 21 year old. The 21-year-old is the middle child of five and is of Indian, Zulu, Mauritian and Irish descent.

She dropped out in university to pursue music full time. "I was actually studying Mining Engineering," Tyla told Native in March 2021.

She isn't new to the game as many people may think She released her debut song, "Getting Late" with Kooldrink, in late 2019. The track became an instant hit, with its music video quickly amassing millions of views.

In 2021, she scored a global record deal with Epic Records, and her career’s been on the up-and-up ever since.

She found fame when she released her debut singles Getting Late and To Last in 2020. It didn’t take long for her songs to go viral on TikTok, leading to her getting millions of streams from all over the world.
