POST Newspaper The Voice and Heart of the Community. [email protected] Devi Rajab

Born in 1955 from humble beginnings as a tabloid of somewhat questionable origins, the Golden City Post rose rapidly to redeem itself when the Argus Group took it over in 1971 and simply called it Post. The Indian community rose to the occasion and when Gandhiji came to SA he started the Indian Opinion in 1926 and the Leader, Graphic and Post followed. Today, with a circulation average of over 45

000 and a readership of more then 300 000 followers, Post is a highly influential and successful ethnic paper. Most members of the Indian community, despite linguistic and religious differences, seem to find common ground in ethnic papers and in this respect Post serves the function of bringing a community together. In its secularity and political neutrality it makes space for all members of the Indian community, and so many political parties, as well as Hindu, Muslim and Christian faiths find common ground in the pages of the Post.- Prof.

AS 2025 draws to a close, South Africa confronts a complex and often grim criminal landscape. While minor improvements in some headline numbers coexist with escalating gang violence in urban centres, shocking mass attacks, renewed public outrage at gender-based violence (GBV) and a high-profile judicial inquiry, the Madlanga Commission is, by virtue of its mandate, exposing alleged political interference and criminal infiltration of the criminal justice system writes Professor Nirmala Gopal

South Africa ends 2025 on a knife-edge, grappling with a surge in gang violence, public demands for gender-based violence reforms, and a stark judicial inquiry exposing deep-seated corruption. What lies ahead for the nation's fight against crime and its quest for justice?

"CHILDREN rarely disappear without reason - yet when a child goes missing in the company of an adult, society often frames it as rebellion, misbehaviour, or a conscious choice."

This sensitive exploration delves into the disturbing realities behind children disappearing with adults. It calls for a collective responsibility from families and communities alike to safeguard children against emotional manipulation and exploitation.

Your personal economic outcome in 2026 won't be determined by GDP growth rates or commission findings. It will be determined by how strategically you manage your finances, how aggressively you build buffers, and how realistically you assess both opportunities and threats. The tide is turning, but it's turning slowly. Swim wisely.

As South Africa stands on the brink of 2026, citizens face a dual narrative of hope and hardship. With prudent strategies and a keen awareness of the realities at hand, navigating the year ahead can lead to greater resilience and opportunity.

Valangaiman Sankaranarayana Srinivasa (VSS) Sastri arrived in South Africa in 1927 as India’s first Agent General. His term in office was trespassed with heightened anti-Indian sentiment. Despite this, his South African sojourn has largely been written out of history, largely limited to his role in establishing Sastri College.

Discover the captivating story of VSS Sastri, India's first Agent General in South Africa, whose diplomatic legacy amidst rampant racism offers vital lessons for contemporary discussions on race and identity
