POST Newspaper The Voice and Heart of the Community. [email protected] Devi Rajab

Born in 1955 from humble beginnings as a tabloid of somewhat questionable origins, the Golden City Post rose rapidly to redeem itself when the Argus Group took it over in 1971 and simply called it Post. The Indian community rose to the occasion and when Gandhiji came to SA he started the Indian Opinion in 1926 and the Leader, Graphic and Post followed. Today, with a circulation average of over 45

000 and a readership of more then 300 000 followers, Post is a highly influential and successful ethnic paper. Most members of the Indian community, despite linguistic and religious differences, seem to find common ground in ethnic papers and in this respect Post serves the function of bringing a community together. In its secularity and political neutrality it makes space for all members of the Indian community, and so many political parties, as well as Hindu, Muslim and Christian faiths find common ground in the pages of the Post.- Prof.

The neighbours raised the alarm when they couldn't reach her

An elderly Phoenix woman was found in a semi-conscious state after intruders broke into her flat, drugged her, and ransacked her home. Neighbours alerted authorities when they couldn't reach her, leading to the discovery.

"Under his leadership, we will restore dignity in our neighbourhoods and invest in our townships. We're going to light up our streets, fix our water tanks, sewage systems, and make this city work for all its citizens," said DA leader John Steenhuisen at today's announcement in Chatsworth.

Steenhuisen didn't mince words about the ANC: "They will not be in City Hall after the next election, they will be at Avbob, because that's where dead parties go."

The DA points to its governance record in other municipalities, including Cape Town's 21 consecutive clean audits, as proof they can deliver for eThekwini.

Will Hoosen be able to turn the tide on Durban's service delivery crisis? Share your thoughts! 👇

Desmond D’Sa, an environmental justice activist and co-founder of SDCEA, said this case was a vindication of justice for people and the environment.

IN a significant victory for environmental justice, the Supreme Court of Appeal has overturned Eskom's environmental authorisation for a 3,000MW gas power plant in Richards Bay, ruling that public consultation was inadequate and climate impacts weren't properly assessed.

City manager Musa Mbhele has unveiled plans to develop a new airport on Durban's South Coast, potentially reviving tourism in an area that's struggled since the old Durban International Airport closed in 2010.

Tourism bodies and business leaders are excited about the economic opportunities, with Sapphire Coast Tourism noting how visitor numbers to the South Coast plummeted after the airport moved north.

But not everyone's on board - ActionSA warns the city should first address its failing infrastructure and beach pollution issues before launching new megaprojects.

What do you think? Is a second airport what Durban needs to boost its economy, or should the city focus on fixing existing problems first?

A shocking new report reveals how transnational criminal networks are exploiting ports like Durban and Walvis Bay to smuggle drugs, illegally fish protected waters, and traffic stolen resources.

One creative method? Hiring divers to attach co***ne packages to ship hulls for retrieval at destination ports! A Brazilian diver involved in this scheme was arrested on his way to South Africa in 2023.

Read our full investigation into how these criminal operations threaten regional security and economies across South Africa, Angola, and Namibia.
