POST Newspaper The Voice and Heart of the Community. [email protected] Devi Rajab

Born in 1955 from humble beginnings as a tabloid of somewhat questionable origins, the Golden City Post rose rapidly to redeem itself when the Argus Group took it over in 1971 and simply called it Post. The Indian community rose to the occasion and when Gandhiji came to SA he started the Indian Opinion in 1926 and the Leader, Graphic and Post followed. Today, with a circulation average of over 45

000 and a readership of more then 300 000 followers, Post is a highly influential and successful ethnic paper. Most members of the Indian community, despite linguistic and religious differences, seem to find common ground in ethnic papers and in this respect Post serves the function of bringing a community together. In its secularity and political neutrality it makes space for all members of the Indian community, and so many political parties, as well as Hindu, Muslim and Christian faiths find common ground in the pages of the Post.- Prof.

Zohran Mamdani went from Cape Town to New York Mayor by building grassroots support and offering hope instead of division.

His victory reminds us of the UDF era when South Africans united across divisions.

Is SA ready for its own Mamdani moment? Can we move beyond tribal politics and fear-mongering to address poverty and inequality through collective action?

Read this powerful analysis of how real change happens - not through social media, but through organizing in our communities.

When Zohran Mamdani was elected New York City's mayor in 2025, many knew his progressive politics - but few knew the remarkable history behind his surname.

The Mamdanis belong to the Khoja community - South Asian Muslim merchants who built trade networks spanning continents centuries ago. Their story includes:
• Creating commercial infrastructure across East Africa
• Being expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin in 1972
• Building resilience through exile and return
• Navigating interfaith identities across generations

This fascinating piece explores how ancestral connections to intercontinental trade networks and cultural exchange might inform Mamdani's approach to leading America's largest city.

Thanja Vuur’s post hit me like a personal call to arms. It’s not just about one tournament, it’s about a system that treats women’s cricket like an afterthought, a side dish to the men’s game’s main course. India’s victory was no accident writes Vanessa Govender

INDIA’S triumph at the Women’s T20 World Cup last month was a spectacle of skill, grit, and national pride. Yet, as the confetti settled in Dubai, a piercing voice cut through the jubilation, not from the stands, but from the digital trenches of X. Thanja Vuur, the Cape Town-based actress and wr...

"Firstly, I do think it might have been appropriate for the Minister of Sport, Gayton Mckenzie, to have attended." - writes Robbie Naidoo

An 80-year-old Wentworth woman remains in Albert Luthuli Hospital a month after being mauled by pit bulls while walking home.

She recently underwent skin grafts for severe wounds.

Following community pressure, authorities have removed the dogs while the victim's daughter speaks out about responsible ownership: "If you've got a pit bull, you need a big area and proper training."

What's your view on keeping powerful dog breeds in residential areas?
